Lucinda Wiggins, 95, passed Friday, May 10, 2024 in Columbus, GA.
Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. EST, Friday, May 17, 2024 at Franchise Missionary Baptist Church, 1000 Dillingham St, Phenix City, AL with Dr. Raymond Cochran, pastor, officiating. Visitation is Thursday, May 16, 2024 from 2 - 5 p.m. EST.
On August 22, 1928 Lucinda Wiggins was born in Phenix City, Alabama to the late John & Eunice Griffin. Lucinda was the only girl amongst 3 brothers. "Sister" developed her courageous spirit and tenacity toward life being the girl amongst the guys. While in school she played Basketball and developed her gumption to seek after success. Lucinda was the longest living member of South Girard Class of 1947.
She gave her life to Christ at an early age and later joined Franchise Missionary Baptist Church. She was active in holding the title of the secretary of East Alabama association, She was the secretary of Sunday school and she worked in every auxiliary at Franchise where she founded the WWTK club "We want to know". Lucinda was dedicated as the Matron of the church prior to the passing of Pastor Marion Wiggins and remained faithful to the ministry after. Lucinda also loved wearing beautiful church outfits and hats.
Mrs. Lucinda was a business woman owning a store located near her home. She enjoyed entrepreneurship and creating new ventures. Lucinda was very outspoken and went after everything she wanted. She also worked at Chattahoochee Valley Community College where she later retired.
Lucinda joins in heaven her husband; Marion Wiggins Jr.; parents, John & Eunice Griffin; brothers, Henry Griffin, Eugene Griffin, and Arthur Griffin; nephew, Gene Griffin; daughters, Cynthia Kay (Johnie) Floyd & Janet Elaine Wiggins; grand daughter, Kelly Judith Wiggins
Lucinda leaves behind her son; Vincent (Kimberly) Wiggins; grandson, Terrence Floyd; grand daughter Kanise Wiggins; grandson, Vincent Wiggins; great grandson, Levi Bion Johnie Floyd; great nephew, Arthur (Diane) Griffin Jr.; family and friends, Janice Johnson, Sandra Harris, Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy, Belinda Walker, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph, and Dot Bryant.

My mother in law will greatly be missed. She is and was the epitome of strength. She will forever hold a place in our hearts. We are assured that through Christ we will meet and see her again. Rest well Mrs. Wiggins. Love you always.
