Mr. Major Simpson, 79, of Salem, AL passed Saturday, December 25, 2021 in Columbus, GA and is resting peacefully the arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. EST, Thursday, December 30, 2021 at Green Acres Cemetery, Columbus, GA with Rev. Elijah Lamar, officiating.
Mr. Major Simpson was born on October 27, 1942 in Opelika, AL to the late Henry and Princella Simpson. He dedicated his life to Christ at an early age and was a member of New Life Missionary Baptist Church. He retired from Cessna Aircraft.
He leaves to cherish his memory a daughter, Tammie (Sylvester) Long of Phenix City, AL; sons, Major Simpson, Jr. of Salem, AL and Lester Hood of Columbus, GA; grandchildren, Latasha (Kyle) Weeks of Phenix City, AL, Trentan Simpson and Jazzmine Simpson of Auburn, AL, Sylvester Long, Jr. and Kristina Long of Columbus, GA, Alexis Person of Phenix City, AL, Keyone Simpson of Salem, AL; eight great grandchildren; siblings: two sisters, Lula (Joe) Toliver of Dallas, TX and Rosa (Bobby) Hodge of Salem, AL; brother, Lonnie (Julia) Simpson of Salem, AL and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
My condolences to my family i havnt seen in 40 years. My name is Laura Sharp i live in Richmond, indiana. My mother Wanda was married to Hank (Brother) Simpson. I am his step daughter. I have such fond memories of coming to Opelika and visiting Maw,Uncle Lonnie,Uncle Ross, Uncle Major, Aunt Jit and playing with Tammie.I will always love you all and keep the memories of the summers and times you all spent visiting Daddy in Richmond close to my heart.
