Marie Jones, 68, passed on Saturday, September 13, 2025 in Phenix City, AL.
Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. EST, Saturday, September 20, 2025 at Providence Baptist Church, Lato, AL with Rev. Felix Worthen, pastor, officiating. Burial to follow in the church cemetery. Public viewing will be held at the church from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. EST on Saturday, September 20, 2025.
Marie Jones, a beloved mother, sister, faithful servant of Christ, and friend to all, passed into eternal rest on September 13, 2025.
Born in Russell County, AL on August 12, 1957 to the late Eddie James, Sr. and the late Thelma James.
She dedicated her life to her family and to the service of others, living out her faith with grace, kindness, and unyielding love.
She worked in the service and hospitality industry from a young age, which inspired her servant heart. She was a member of Providence Missionary Baptist Church, Seale (Lato), AL where she served as the Usher Board President for 17 years.
Her life was a testament to the power of God. Whether volunteering at her church, serving a meal to someone in need, or simply offering a listening ear, she saw those act of service as an opportunity to share love.
Her infectious smile, joyful laugh, and humble heart endeared her to all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of faith and compassion that will continue to inspire her family and community for generations.
Marie Jones is survived by her loving children, Jason Jones, Christopher Jones; her cherished grandchildren, Braylon Hughes, Avonna Jones, Christopher Jones, Jr. and a host of god grandchildren; her sister, Christine Lewis, best friend (Sister In Love) Sue Brown, nieces, nephews; and a host of extended family and friends.

Marie, whom we called Kitty was a sweet person. Her family moved into our neighborhood when we were teens and we became acquainted with her sister Chris, brothers Eddie (man) and Larry. We lost touch for a long time until I walked into Providence church and saw her working as an Usher. It was good to see her again; had that same friendly smiling demeanor. Will miss her and praying for her family to be strong in the Lord who knows Best. God Bless You.
