Obituary For Marvin Drake

Mr. Marvin Drake, 64, of Columbus, GA, passed Tuesday, January 20, 2026 in Columbus, GA.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. EST, Saturday, January 31, 2026 in the C.T. Chapel of Taylor Funeral Home with Pastor Charlie Sanders, officating. Interment will follow in Green Acres Cemetery, Columbus, GA. Public visitation will be 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. EST, Friday, January 30, 2026.

Marvin Drake was born on October 22, 1961, in Phenix City, AL, to the late Freddie Mae and Douglas Drake, Sr. He grew up surrounded by family, faith, and the values that shaped the man he would become. In his twenties, he made Columbus, GA his home—a place where he built a life filled with love, hard work, and deep devotion to the people he cherished.

Marvin passed away on January 20, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of strength, generosity, and unwavering commitment to family. He is survived by his loving wife, Cynthia L. Drake; his children—Lakeisha Drake Washington, Latoya Drake, Ferlando Hall, Jr., Thaddeus Drake (Laquesha), and Dameion Drake (Rachelle); his brother, Douglas Drake, Jr.(Diane); fourteen grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a large circle of loved ones, friends, and community members who felt the impact of his kindness.

A quiet spirit with an adventurous heart, Marvin loved traveling, discovering new places, and creating memories on family trips. He was down‑to‑earth, funny, and full of joy—especially when surrounded by his grandchildren, who saw him as the life of every gathering. To his family, he was a steady presence: happy, loving, caring, and always there when it mattered most. He never missed a milestone, a celebration, or a moment that mattered to the people he loved.

Marvin was a master electrician by trade, respected for his skill, precision, and work ethic. His talents extended far beyond his profession—he was gifted in welding, plumbing, and many other trades. Later in life, he found a passion for home restoration, pouring his creativity and craftsmanship into bringing new life to old spaces. No matter the task, Marvin approached it with dedication and pride.

Above all, Marvin was a family man. He took care of everyone—his children, his grandchildren, his wife, and even those who weren’t his by blood but were his by heart. He was a father figure to many, a source of guidance, protection, and unconditional love. His presence made people feel safe, supported, and seen.

A loyal Atlanta Falcons fan, a hard worker, and a man who lived with purpose, Marvin leaves behind a legacy built on love, service, and quiet strength. His memory will continue to live on in the homes he restored, the lessons he taught, and the countless hearts he touched.

Marvin will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered.
