Mrs. Mary G. Terrell, 84 of Columbus, GA passed Wednesday, October 6, 2021 in Columbus, GA.
Graveside service will be held 1:00 p.m. EST Saturday, October 16, 2021 at Evergreen Memorial Park Columbus, GA. Visitation is Friday, October 15, 2021 from 1-5 p.m. EST
Mary Terrell was born August 27, 1937 in Webster County, GA. She was the third child born to the late Thomas Roosevelt and Minion Huckaby Peters.
She received her elementary and secondary education in the Webster County school system, graduating as a member of the class of 1955-56, Rosenwald School, Preston GA. Mary attended Albany State College (now Albany State University), Albany, GA. where she obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and certification in Elementary Education. She continued her education and obtained her Masters of Science degree from Fort Valley State College (now Fort Valley State University) with specialization in Elementary School Education. Mary taught 36 years in Georgia and two years in Germany
In 1967, Mary was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late Charlie Joe Terrell. Their union was blessed with three children, Wyatt, Tressa and Debra. Mary was a devoted wife and mother to her children, and doting grandmother.
Faith was an important component of her life. To that end, Mary was baptized as a member of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She was a member of the Cooper Creek Congregation.
Mary was preceded in death by her late husband, Charlie Terrell.
She leaves to cherish her three children, Wyatt Peters (Tammy), Knovach Vontressa Gibson (Edgar) and Debra T. Porch (Christopher); grandchildren, Alyson Peters, Anthony Gibson, Kennedy Grace Porch and Christian Porch, siblings, Gladys Hall (deceased), Hazel Pullum (Ulysses Jr.),Ceola Reddick (deceased), Alice Irving (Lonnie), Annie L. Oliver, Veroniece Marable, Ethel Williams (Spencer), Thomas Peters (deceased), Freddie Green (deceased), Horace Peters (deceased), Dr. Vonya Alita Mullin Muldrow and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and family members.
