Minnie Jean Hodge, affectionately known as “Brin” was born on August 3, 1960, in Salem, AL, to the late Bobby Lee Hodge, Sr. and Rosie Mae Hodge. Minnie was the baby of the family, a beautiful soul whose joy, light, and love for God filled every room she entered.
Minnie accepted Christ at a young age at St. Paul CME Church, where her faith journey began. After moving to Lithonia, Georgia, she became actively involved at The House of Hope alongside her daughter, worshipping under the leadership of Dr. E. Dewey Smith. Following her beloved mother's transition, Minnie relocated to Columbus, Georgia, and returned to her church home, St. Paul CME, under the leadership of Pastor Prevo-Williams. She was excited to rededicate herself, settle in, and serve wherever she was needed. Minnie especially loved singing in the choir and being a member of the Silver Angel Ministry.
Minnie received her education from Central High School in Phenix City, AL in 1978. From childhood and throughout her life, whether she was with family, friends or anyone she met, Minnie had a genuine love for people and a heart for helping others. She loved being involved in her community, and that passion was evident during her time at the Serenity Senior Activity Center. As the owner of Minnie's Creations, she used her gift for crocheting to bless others, often donating more than she sold gave her immeasurable joy, as crocheting was her favorite hobby. Her life's work was rooted in service, from serving as a Care Advocate and Voter Registrar Clerk to embracing her most meaningful role as caregiver for her mother. It brought her joy to be by her mother's side until her earthly journey was complete. Minnie cherished her family and friends, loved a good phone conversation, smiled everywhere she went, and gave freely of herself through volunteering and serving others.
Minnie transitioned to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, June 9, 2026. Which was also her beloved Mother's birthday, and we find comfort in knowing they are celebrating together in Heaven. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bobby Lee Hodge, Sr. and Rosie Mae Hodge; her sister, Gloria Johnson and Joyce Taylor; and four brothers, Jimmy L. Ogletree, Willie C. Hodge, James C. Hodge, and Walter Pickard.
She is survived by her dear brother, Bobby Lee Hodge, Jr. whom she loved spending time with and was grateful to share such a special bond.
Minnie is survived by her nurturing, loving, and devoted daughter, Katrina Y. Hefner. She was blessed with an amazing son-in-love, Jonathan A. Hefner, M.D., and through their union, she embraced her most cherished title; “Gigi” The greatest joys of her life, whom she held closest to her heart, were her beloved “Grandjoys” Kennedy Addison and Jameson Allister Hefner. She was also blessed with bonus grandchildren, Justin and Jaela, who brought additional love and happiness to her life. Minnie's love as a Gigi was pure, profound, and immeasurable; a bond that transcended words and will remain a lasting legacy of her love.
Minnie also shared a special bond with her sisters-in-love, Katrina Archie, Katie Robinson, Janet Daniels; special devoted friend, Ricky Williams; devoted nephew, Jacorey Hodge; neices, Kenya Gilmore, Kareba Hodge, Jessica Ogletree, Crystal Simmons; nephews, Terrell Hodge, Gibran Hodge, Rodriquez Simmons, Courvasier Mathes, and Myron Lily; Co-Parent, Charles Pearson; Cherished friends, Ms. Edna Gordon and Kathy Craig; and a multitude of relatives and friends.
Minnie's warmth, kindness, laughter, and vibrant spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her legacy of faith, love, service, and joy will forever live on in our hearts.
