Ms. Monica “Byrd” Thomas, 47, passed Sunday, October 27, 2024
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. EST on Saturday, November 2, 2024 at Antioch Baptist Church 86 Isbell Rd Ft Mitchell, Al 36856 Pastor Fredrick Small, officiating. Burial in Church Cemetery. Public viewing is 12:00-5:00 p.m. EST on Friday, November 1, 2024.
Ms. Monica L. “Byrd” Thomas was born on January 27, 1977, in Columbus, GA. She was the baby girl born to Mr. Robert Lee Holloway and the late Mrs. Willie Mae Holloway.
Monica accepted Christ at an early age and joined the Antioch Baptist Church in Ft. Mitchell, AL.
Monica began her education at St. Joseph Catholic School and later graduated from Russell County High School, Class of 1995. She has over 28 years of experience in property management, having worked as a Compliance Specialist, Senior Property Manager, and Section 8 Intake Specialist.
Monica served as Vice President of the Phenix City Titans league for 10 years, from 2014-2024, demonstrating a strong commitment to the community and prioritizing the children involved. A true “Roll Tide” fan, she was known for her kind nature and friendliness, never meeting a stranger.
Monica was preceded in death by her mother, Willie Mae Holloway, who was the apple of her eye, and four siblings: Amos Holloway, JoAnn Holloway, Betty James, and Roy Holloway.
Precious memories will be cherished by her loving father, Robert Lee Holloway; her amazing son, Karter Thomas; two loving sisters, Martha (Alphonso) Allen and Irene “Jackie” (Edward) Poole; two awesome brothers, Henry Holloway (Velneka Williams) and Patrick (Jeannine) Holloway; a devoted niece who was raised as a sister, Arleshia (John) Barnes; two sisters-in-law, Sandra Holloway and June Holloway; one brother-in-law, Curtis James; two aunts, Estella Miles and Martha (Cornell) Clay; one uncle, Roosevelt (Annie) Thomas; one God-sister, Paula (Bruce) Jones; a loving friend, Adrian Crowell; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and close friends.
