Oree accepted Christ and joined the Friendship Baptist Church, Phenix City, and served with his wife at Shiloh #2 A.M.E. Zion Church, Opelika, Alabama.
Oree attended South Girard, Phenix City, Alabama and shortly after, he honorably served in the United States Marine Corps. His commitment to personal growth led him to earn a certificate in Psychology from the American School in 1977. He had an extended career at Uniroyal Goodrich Michelin for over 30 years and was known for his compassion, integrity, and unwavering dedication to work. Never one for idle hands, Oree's work ethic extended to operating tractors and bulldozers in land clearing and excavation projects. When not working, he enjoyed time with family and socializing with friends, watching football and basketball at Wilbur's Turkey House.
On June 29, 1974, Oree united in holy matrimony with the love of his life Catheree Baldwin Heard. Their union was blessed with one son Oree Heard Jr.
On October 20,2025, God in his infinite wisdom called his faithful servant home to eternal rest surrounded by his family at Columbus Piedmont Northside.
He was preceded in death by his father William Heard, his mother Essie L Heard, three brothers Willie Lee Palmer, King Heard, and David H. Heard, and one sister Doris J. Davis.
