Obituary For Renner Mercer
Mrs. Renner Mercer, 87, of Salem, AL passed Sunday, June 4, 2023 in Opelika, AL.
Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. EST Saturday, June 10, 2023 in the C.T. Chapel of Taylor Funeral Home with Rev. Hurbert Newsome, officiating and Rev. Johnny Rutledge, eulogist. Burial to follow in St. Paul C.M.E Church Cemetery, Crawford, AL. Visitation is Friday, June 9, 2023 from 12-5 p.m. EST.
She was born April 6, 1936, in Russell County, Alabama to the late Lula Coleman Grady and the late Roy Sanders. She retired from Lee County Board of Education as a cook.
She confessed Christ at an early age and joined the Canaan A.M.E Church where she was a faithful servant for over 70 years. She was united in Holy Matrimony to Frank Mercer and was blessed with two beautiful daughters.
Left to cherish her precious memories are her two daughters, Velvet Jan Mercer and Theresa Ann Averett (Bernard); six grandchildren, RenQuista Brooks (Jerrod), Brian Franklin, Jr., Renekia Mercer, Tayla Franklin, Khrislyn Averett and Tristian Hall; two great grandchildren, Aiden and Abella Brooks; a special nephew and niece whom she adored and raised, Johnny Frank Coleman and Bertina Carnes (Willie B.); four sisters, Hattie Tables, Erma Jean Coleman, Ollie Mae Bryant and Christine Williams; one brother, Charlie Sanders, Sr.; two sisters-in-law; Rosie Sanders and Willie Bell Mercer; a host of other relatives and friends.
