Reverend Walter Dix, a beloved pastor, family patriarch, and community leader, entered into eternal rest on May 8, 2024. He was born in 1936 to the late Katie Peterson Dix and Genie Dix, and from a young age, he embraced his faith and committed his life to serving others.
Rev. Dix’s spiritual journey began at Mt. Missouri Baptist Church, where he confessed Christ and dedicated decades of his life to serving the Lord. As chairman of the deacon board, he guided the church with compassion and wisdom, always willing to lend an ear or offer a prayer. His voice was steady and calming, his presence a source of strength to all who knew him.
In 1957, he married the love of his life, the late Dorothy Simmons Dix, and together they built a family rooted in love, respect, and faith. Their 64 years of marriage stood as a testament to their unwavering devotion. They raised three sons, Walter Dix, Wayne (Jannie) Dix, Delray Dix; one daughter, Dr. Vivian Dix, instilling in them the values of faith, hard work, and community service. They also embraced a bonus son, Kenneth Harper, into their family.

Pastor Dix was a good mentor and great father in the ministry. He was Paul in the ministry when I first started preaching. My prayer to this family remember the good times that you shared with him. He has fought the good fight, he has finished the race, and he has kept the faith. God has a crown waiting on him. Pastor Andrew Gilder
