Obituary For Rhonda Denise McCoy
Rhonda McCoy, 68, passed on Wednesday, June 11, 2025 in Phenix City, AL.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. EST on Friday, June 20, 2025 at Greater Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Phenix City, AL with Pastor, Noble D. Williams, officiating. Burial in Green Acres Cemetery. Public viewing is from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. EST on Thursday, June 19, 2025.

Ms. Rhonda Denise McCoy was born on March 23, 1957. She was the daughter of the late Roosevelt McCoy, Sr. and the late Marguerite Day McCoy. She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior on April 29, 1969, and joined the Franchise Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorate of Dr. Raymond Cochran. In October 2012, Rhonda became a member of the Greater Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
Rhonda was educated in the Phenix City Public School District. She was a 1975 graduate of Central High School. Her post-secondary studies were completed at Alabama A & M University where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. Later, Rhonda obtained a Master’s degree from Troy State University. She served the community as a professional educator, with the majority of her years being spent in the Phenix City Public School District, where she touched the lives of countless students. Rhonda was also a proud member of the Columbus (GA) Alumni Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
Rhonda leaves to cherish her memory two brothers, Victor E. McCoy and Roosevelt “Toot” McCoy, Jr.; two god sisters, Marian Beck and Shnoria Wilson; four goddaughters, Marceda Lewis (Herman), Adrienne Thomas (Rodriguez), Conchetta Perry, and Tameka Jackson; one godson, Cameron Weaver; two special cousins, Linda Carrillo (Enrique, Sr.) and Donna Coleman, a devoted friend, Linda Denson; two special nieces, Mandy Jackson and McKayla Jackson; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
