My heartfelt condolences to the Porter family. Ricky always greeted me—and everyone—with his signature smile and embodied a kind, gentle heart. While I had known of Ricky for some time, I truly got to know him on Sunday nights at the skating rink in Columbus. Not only was he an incredible skater, but he was also the smoothest and coolest in our crew.
After I moved to Atlanta, he would still check in on my mom from time to time—a true testament to his character. Ricky may be gone too soon, but his memory will live on in our hearts forever.
I'M DEEPLY SADDENED TO READ OF RICKY'S PASSING. MY SINCERE CONDOLENCES TO ENTIRE FAMILY.
Rest well my friend/family. I'm loss for words. When things don't go the way we pray, we must understand God knows best. My heartfelt condolences to the family. Ricky was an amazing person as you already know. He never met a stranger. A big heart and a smile that would light up a room. I pray that God brings understanding, comfort and peace, not just today but the days, months and years to come. Your angel has ascended and he's now watching over you 🙏💔❤️🙏
Cousin Rick. You will truly be missed. We are sending our condolences to the Porter Family. RIP Rickey Porter. Arthur and Sharon Williams
A Gentleman has earned his wings! I have never seen Ricky without a smile. I have never heard his tone of voice change from anything but respectful . Always a peaceful, sweet human. When I run out of gas 1 mile away from home with our 89 year old neighbor, (okay that's irresponsible of me), but I know Ricky is a responsible standby 😊. Whose going to fuss about the 89 year old neighbor up on a ladder? "Kim, I can see him on the ladder from my porch! Keep him off the ladder!"... He and his dog were the best at neighborhood watch but now are having a good ole time together! Our neighborhood will not be the same without Mr Porter. We have been neighbors for as long as I can remember, over 50 years...Yes I'm factoring in my childhood years when we used to walk up the street to talk to his house where his mother was sitting on the porch. Oh how I miss those days when "It Takes A Village".. really meant something. Ricky was a Grand Neighbor who checked on everybody! He always looked at my house when he passed by tooting the horn as well as just check to make sure all was good! God broke the mold with this one.....Mr Porter!!! YOU WILL BE MISSED!!! To the family and daughters,You have my support! Much Love and sympathy, Kim and Family.

My friend sincr childhood, I will miss knowing you are in this world. I never saw you when you weren't smiling. Even when we had the video chat just a few days before you passed, you were yet smiling. We had a chance to walk down memory lane. It's hard to believe that you left so soon afterwards. It has brought my heart great joy to read and hear so many beautiful things said about you. What makes it even more heartfelt is that more than an abundance of witnesses have testified of your character. You will never be forgotten. GOD bless your family during this difficult time and continue to comfort them.
Ricky you are magnificent. My heart may never be healed. I never imagined anything could hurt so much. Your life is a testimony of the goodness of God. Your mother said, "God sure knew what he was doing when he made you". I have no doubt you're in heaven with the Lord. I look forward to seeing you again. My feelings for you go far beyond the words of, I love you.
Rick and I met around 17, our junior year of High School and our kindred spirits connected til the day his spirit left his earthly body. @17 our greatest focus was to be cool and popular and find a way to get to the Summer rec dances. We were quite strategic and successful. We later while often sitting on the curb or on his porch steps strategize about what we were going to do after graduating and getting that first job, We got it. Then it was getting our first car. I got a 69 Chevy Malibu and he got a 65 powder blue Chevy belair. We then begin strategizing about the car upgrade a couple of years later. Now we both are working and we had to roll with the true players for real. I first purchased a brand new 78 rust colored Cutlass Supreme and Ric followed with the same a 78 white version...we had safely arrived to young men heaven. Next was the weekly convoy to skating, Burger King and Carver Park. We hit it all like seasoned veterans and we've been rolling every since. We were connected yet uniquely different. I made sure every time I came back and visited home Rick was on my agenda. Our love and appreciation always was the same and we spoke frequently. I will forever missed my forever friend, one of the nicest version of a man God created. I'm thankful God saw fit that our path intersect. I give Him, the man above, all the honor and the glory. What a damaging blow in life!!! But God knows our every need in life, so I thank God for keeping Ricky for 66 yrs even though there were a complication in his life. My sincere condolences and love to Ricky's family and those who loved him. I've known Ricky & his family for many decades. Our families grew up together on King St. He was always friendly, wore a big smile on his face, dressed nicely, drove nice cars, and kept their home and yard looking good. Good people! Good neighbors! Good families! We had a neighborhood reunion earlier this year and I was so hopeful that Ricky would join us. He was definitely missed. I thank God for his friendship over the years. You made it home safely my brother!
