Robert “Black” Alexander, 70, of Phenix City, AL passed Tuesday, June 4, 2024 in Smiths Station, AL.
Funeral service will be held Thursday, June 13, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. EST at Bethel A.M.E. Church, Phenix City, AL with Rev. Brandon Thornton, pastor, officiating and Rev. Pryce Battle, eulogist. Burial to follow in the church cemetery. Public visitation is Wednesday, June 12, 2024 from 12:00 - 5:00 p.m. EST.
Mr. Robert “Black” Alexander was born January 1, 1954, in Phenix City, Alabama to the late Charlie and the late Ruth Gary Alexander. Robert departed this life on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at his home.
He confessed his life to Christ at an early age at Bethel A.M.E Church. Later in life he united with the Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. J. H. Flakes, Jr., where Rev. Pryce Battle is currently serving as pastor. Robert was a member of the choir and a former member of the Family Stars Gospel Quartet, which consisted of he and his brothers. Robert attended Mt. Olive School. He was a former employee of Golden Foundries.
“What God has joined together let no man put asunder.” Robert married the love of his life, Jacqueline Williams Alexander.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Ruth Alexander; brothers, Michael Alexander, Joel Lee Alexander; sisters, Bernice Alexander Jenkins and Belinda Alexander.
Mr. Alexander leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife, Jacqueline Alexander; sons, Captain Timothy (April) Jones and Orlando Williams; daughters, Dr. Shandra Thomas, Jennifer (Joshua) Ferguson, Tiffany (David) Nelson and Tameka (Douglas Jr.) Rogers; brothers, James (Peggy) Gary, Charlie (KoKese) Alexander, Jr., Willie (Anna) Alexander, Curtis Alexander; sisters, Dorothy (Fred) Glenn, Minister Judy (Bob) Farley, Teresa (Melvin) Floyd, Lisa (Ervin) Jackson; 15 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Robert (Marilyn) Williams, Nathan (Cathy) Williams, Keith Williams; sisters-in-law, Carrie Nell Corbin, Margaret (Ernest) McCory, Barbara (Frank) Loud, Geraldine Williams; a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
