Robert spent two years as a high school Science teacher after serving four years in the United States Air Force. He then went on to pursue a career in banking. Robert was a trailblazer in the local banking industry where he broke racial barriers and impacted many, many lives. A good number of those people are still in business today because of his willingness to take a chance on small business owners who would not have otherwise had a chance at success.

Mr. Anderson was an active member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity for 60 years and was a hard-working member of the Lambda Iota Chapter here in Columbus, GA. Robert was a member of South Columbus United Methodist Church where he was a certified lay leader and he also served as District Lay Leader for the Northwest District of the South Georgia Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church.
He is a former MCSD School board member and has served on a variety of boards throughout the city over the years. Robert was an avid supporter of the arts and he was Chairman Emeritus of the Liberty Theatre where he served selflessly and gave of his time, talents and network over the years to help keep the doors of the theatre open.
He was preceded in death by sisters, Frances Johnson and Mildred Hill-Lubin and a brother, Luther Anderson.
Mr. Anderson was married for 35 plus years to Louise Anderson and leaves four daughters, Yolanda Anderson, Veronica Anderson-Lewis (Tim Lewis), Tawana Anderson and Shae Anderson; two grand-children whose lives he played a very active role in, Blake LA Richardson and Alexandria Lily-Frances Anderson; two sisters, Brenda Anderson and Christine Kennard; one brother, Tommy Anderson and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, loved ones and friends.
Mr. Anderson exemplified the type of man many aspire to be hardworking, God fearing, family oriented, kind-hearted, consistent and loyal.

Robert and I started at the Bank around the same time with my having retired ahead of him. I have been away from Columbus for many years and, consequently, have not stayed in touch. He was a friend and a good man who personified servant leadership. Louise and family please accept my sincere condolences. Steve Brice
He was a friend ands very smart Brother
I am going to miss him. If he could help any young person to guide them in a positive way, He did not hesitate to take the time to do it. In my youth and progressing into my Adult years, Mr Anderson always left me with a positive word of encouragement. He was not the Adult that would chastise you and make you run when you see him. He wanted you to be able to walk up to him and talk to him. He left no kid behind! He was the true epitome of a Man! Lord, it's just sinking in that I'm not going to run into him anymore π₯²I know I made him late many of days to wherever he was scheduled to be. He never shoo-ed me off. He gave what he knew that he could give and this was his time. I see his same spirit in his children! The Legacy continues......May God watch over his family and hold them close. I love the family! For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. Sending love and light during this time of sorrow. Robert was more than a dear friend, but the big brother most people yearn for. I'll never forget the good times he and I, Henry and Mamie Cook shared singing together. He was my youngest daughters godfather. We share beautiful memories of Shae and Whitney being acolyte's. I love him and Louise. I will truly miss Bob Anderson.

As the old saying goes when the physical body is no longer present on earth it is because that body is standing in the presence of the Lord. As you transition to the upper plane, may your journey be light and fill of love and joy. To the family know that love does not stop, only the body as we know it we can no longer see it. Your dad, brother, husband, uncle and cousin or whatever relationship you had with him, he will continue to walk and look over all he loved. Know that prayers and love are going with him and you as you stay good bye to his earthly body and he says hello to his spiritual body. Free to go without limitations to watch over his beloved family. Blessing to you all. Karen Kennard
