Obituary For Ronnie Smith

Ronnie Smith, 65, of Phenix City, AL passed on Wednesday, August 19, 2026.

Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. EST. on Friday, August 28, 2026 in the C.T. Chapel of Taylor Funeral Home with Pastor Michael Brown, officiating. There is no public viewing.

Ronnie was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose love was most often shown through the way he cared for others. His children are most proud of the fact that their daddy always made sure they had everything they needed growing up. He was a great dad who worked hard to provide for his family and made sure his children had the foundation to build great lives of their own.

He had a generous heart and genuinely loved helping people. That same generosity carried over into the special relationship he shared with his grandchildren. Whenever they came to visit during the summer, grandpa could be counted on to give them $20 for a trip to Five Below--- a simple tradition that became one of those special memories they will always carry with them.

He enjoyed the simple things that made him happy: fishing, barbecuing, working on cars, watching cowboy shows, football, basketball, and karate movies. His car was his baby, and he was also a man who could appreciate some good KFC. He worked for Panasonic Energy Corporation of America and was known by those closest to him as someone who enjoyed spending time with the people he cared about and lending a helping hand whenever he could.

His faith was an important part of who he was. As one of Jehovah's Witnesses, he found strength and comfort in his relationship with Jehovah and in the scriptures. His family will always remember one of his favorite sayings “The Most High got me”. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eddie Louis Smith and Doris Haynes Smith; his brother, Eddie Louis Smith, Jr.; and his sister, Naomi Smith.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Charlene Smith; his children, Sheena Smith and Koji Holloway, five beloved grandchildren, his sisters, Dorothy A. Barnes (Clinton) and Kathy Greene; his sister-in-law, Debra Smith; his special friend and buddy, Dell and a host of extended family, friends, and all those lives were touched by his kindness and generosity.

More than anything, his family will remember a daddy who provided, a grandfather who gave freely, and a man who showed his love by making sure the people around him were taken care of. The life he helped his children build and the memories he created with his grandchildren will remain part of his legacy for generations to come.
