Ruthie Mae Lewis, 76, passed on Thursday, April 10, 2025 in Columbus, GA.
Funeral service will held at 2:00 p.m. EST in the C.T. Chapel of Taylor Funeral Home on Saturday, April 19, 2025. Burial to follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Public viewing is 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Friday, April 18, 2025.
Ruthie Mae Jackson - Lewis, affectionately known as โGranny,โ passed away peacefully on April 10, 2025, at the age of 76. Known for her kind spirit, big heart, and love for laughter, Ruthie brought joy to everyone she met. She enjoyed spending time with her family, sharing stories, working crossword puzzles, and watching the news. She confessed her life to Christ at an early age and she continued to worship at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, Seale, AL.
A proud graduate of the Russell County Training School Class of 1966 in Hurtsboro, AL, Ruthie went on to work for many years at Days Inn, where she was cherished for her strong work ethic and warm spirit. At the age of 21 she married the love of her life, James C. Lewis, and together they shared 57 years of devoted and loving matrimony.
Ruthie was preceded in death by her parents, Walker and Millie Will Jackson; her sister, Caldonia Jackson; her granddaughter, Jaquasia Lewis; and her great-grandson, Braylen Millsaps.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving husband, James C. Lewis; her devoted children, Patsy (Antonio) Carlton, Timmy Lewis, Lisa (Kelvin) Thomas, and Jamie Lewis; brothers, Otis Jackson, John (Jennifer) Jackson, Joe (Kitty) Jackson, Will (Honey) Jackson, James Jackson, and Walter (Dollie) Jackson; sisters, Mamie Pearl Patty, Hattie Ryles, Annie Anthony Wynn, and Onell (Jarvis) Fountain Lee; brother-in-law, Marshall Lewis; sisters-in-law, Mary Hoskins and Florie Matthews; grandchildren, Keyandi (Tiffany) Jerrica, Jessica, Chatney (Ronnie), Amber, Janiqua (Vincent), Jaquita, Jakisha, and Timia; 14 great-grandchildren; a special best friend and sister-in-law, Mary Hoskins; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and cherished friends
