OBITUARY: Sandy Jinel Spencer, born on April 7, 1967, in Hamilton GA was sent to her eternal home on March 17, 2025 in Piedmont-Midtown Hospital of Columbus GA. Sandy was the beloved daughter to the late Willene & Thomas Spencer. She is preceded in death also by her Sisters, Dildred Dorsey and Annethia Hardaway, and Brother, Richard Spencer. Sandy is survived by her Sister, Tommie Lou Spencer and other family members and close friends.
Sandy was well-known in her community and much loved. She also had a knack for planting vegetable gardens and was a very good cook as well. She took great delight in family get-togethers, cook-outs and other fun activities where she could especially dance to good music.
Sandy was a lot of fun; and she will be tremendously missed by her family and all those who knew her well. May the Lord rest her soul in eternal peace.
Sandy was laid to rest at East Porterdale Cemetery, 320 Tenth Ave, Columbus GA 31901.
My Auntie Sandy was the truth! She was one of the realest person I know. She spoke her mind and kept it real. She was the "nickname" giver. She gave her nieces and nephews all our nicknames, which were: "Blue", "Beaver", "FleeBag", "Rab" short for Fat Rabbit, "Dark meat", "Bubba", "Bias" & "Nando". Trina was the only one that escaped getting an infamous nickname. Whenever, I was in Auntie Sandy's presence she always greeted me with a smile and a hug. She inspired me to trust God more and worry less; because every time I asked her if she was okay? Her reply was always the same "I'm straight, God got me, I'm gon be alright...Rab" while winking her eye at me. Auntie, you will be missed. We love you and it ain't a thang you can do about it! Love always, Your niece Sonja aka "Rab"
I have known Sandy since we both attended Mountain Hill Elementary School in Forston, Ga. It has been several years since I saw her, but whenever I did see her she always had a smile on her face and greeted me with kindness and joy to see me and the feeling was mutual. Monica Johnson-Cain
