Mr. Sanford None, Sr., 77, of Phenix City, AL passed on Sunday, August 10, 2025 in Columbus GA.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. EST on Sunday, August 17, 2025 in the C.T. Chapel of Taylor Funeral Home with Rev. Keith Baker, officiating. Burial at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery. Public viewing is 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 16, 2025
Sanford Daniel None was born to the late Daniel and Ida Bell None on November 8, 1947, in Russell County, Alabama. He attended Russell County schools and graduated from Oliver High School in 1965. Shortly after graduation, he was drafted into the United States Army, where he bravely served in the Vietnam War.
Upon returning home, Sanford married the love of his life, Mary Mahogany-None, on September 26, 1970. Their union was blessed with two sons, Sanford Jr. and Santonia.
Sanford was a lifelong member of Uchee Chapel AME Church, where he served faithfully as Steward Board Chairman Pro-Tem and was an active member of the 9th Episcopal District, Northeast Conference. He dedicated over 57 years of service to Smurfit Westrock in Cottonton, Alabama, where he served as wet end crew leader. During his employment he earned many accolades for his hard work and commitment. He also pursued studies in Criminal Justice at Chattahoochee Valley Community College.
Affectionately, known as βDukakeβ or βSamβ, Sanford was admired for his quiet strength, gentle spirit, and kind heart. He was soft-spoken, deeply respectful, and universally loved by those who knew him. A devoted husband, father, and provider, Sanford exemplified grace, humility, and unwavering dedication to his family.
Sanford leaves to cherish and honor his memory his sons, Sanford None, Jr. (Latoya) and Santonia None; two beloved grandchildren, Jessica Marshall and Greyson None; and one sister, Lillie None. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Cuba Cooper and Lois Alexander.
He is also survived by his beloved aunt, Ethel Dunlap, one sister in law Martha Hood along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and a bonus son Lee Massey.
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. 2 Corinthians 1:3-5.
