Sarah Brooks Marshall, 80, of Columbus, GA passed on Tuesday, February 24, 2026 in Columbus, GA.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. EST on Saturday, March 7, 2026 at Greater Bethelpore Missionary Baptist Church, Bleeker, AL with Rev. Cornell Battle, Pastor officiating. Burial at Green Acres Cemetery. Public viewing is 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. EST on Friday , March 6, 2026.
Sarah Brooks Marshall, 80, of Columbus, GA, beloved wife of Tommy E. Marshall, peacefully received her heavenly wings on February 24, 2026 with her husband, daughter and son by her side.
Sarah accepted Christ at a very young age and faithfully served and attended Baptist Churches in Phenix City, AL and Columbus, GA until her death, making Beaming Light Baptist Church in Phenix City, AL, her final church home.
Sarah was a proud graduate of South Girard High School's Class of 1965 and cherished every opportunity to re-connect with her classmate during their βBlue and Goldβ Balls. She retired from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Georgia after over 20 years of service.
Sarah loved God and her family. One of her greatest joys during her retirement years was connecting with family and friends via Facebook and sharing her love, humor and stories with them.
Sarah, the eldest of 13 children born to Mr. Jake Brooks, Jr. and Mrs. Katie B. Brooks was preceded in death by her parents. Left to cherish fond memories of Sarah are her devoted husband of 34 years, Mr. Tommy E. Marshall; her son, Jeffrey Van Buren Phenix City, AL; her loving devoted daughter and caretaker, Kesia J. Van Buren Columbus, GA; her bonus sons, Marc Marshall, Marcus Marshall and Eric T. Marshall, all of Columbus, GA. Fond memories of Sarah will also be cherished by her surviving 12 siblings. Her seven brothers: Jake Brooks, Atlanta, GA; Jesse (Judy) Brooks, Newnan, GA; Willie (Kay) Brooks, Tampa, FL; Tommy (Valerie)Brooks, Fresno, CA; Terry (Mary) Brooks Columbus, GA; Cecil (Sandy) Brooks, Aiken, South Carolina; and Runiol (Janice) Brooks, Jacksonville, Florida. Her five sisters: Barbara Franklin, Columbus, GA; Geraldine(Gerri) Brooks, Winston, Salem, NC; Brenda Brooks, Phenix City, AL; Ceneta Hughes, Bloomington; IL, Felecia Fisher, Bloomington, IL and a host of loving nieces and nephews.

I have always had great admiration for people who choose to smile after all the things they've gone through. This alone is a Faithful testament of strength tried and true. Ms. Sarah's infectious smile will always be remembered. The love she shown me and most importantly her sweet friendship.
Sarah, you have seen better days but also seen worse. You don't have to worry anymore because you have all that you truly need. No more waking up with aches and pains now you rest with the joy of walking and singing in the home of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Your life may not have been perfect but none of our lives are. You can rest now and be assured that you are blessed by the Lord up above and you have completed your walk of life and know that one we shall all travel up the stairs toward the everlasting light on our day. Peace βπΎ. This is painful. As young teenagers, there were a group of us hanging today. We would call each Brother Mothers our Mom's. Each Mom's treated us like we were their child. With love, respect, at times words of wisdom. Even as young men. As time goes on, jobs, family etc limited and reduce our time together. This hurts because I shouldn't allowed jobs, money, etc to removed time with Mom ( Ms. Sarah). She treated me like a son should be treated. I will try miss her smile. Praying for the family to have strength and remember the good times shared together. Peace and Love to you all.
