Shirley Ann (McCoy) Williams was born on April 23, 1952, in Columbus, Georgia, and was called home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 1, 2025. She was one of eight children born to Mae Robinson and Theodore Kelly.
Her upbringing was rooted in Christianity from the start. She attended Mt. Olive Baptist Church and was a long-time member of Oasis Church International where she was a devoted member and served faithfully until the time of her illness.
On November 22, 1988, Shirley married Fletcher Williams, Jr. Shirley was instrumental in raising two stepdaughters and a host of nieces and nephews.
Shirley graduated from Spencer High School, Columbus, GA and began her career at Howard Printing Company. She later joined Aflac where she worked in the Payment Processing Center and retired after 30 years of service.
As a devoted wife, Shirley leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and generosity. She cherished her family and friends with her gentle spirit, soft speaking voice and a heart that gave freely and loved deeply. She never forgot birthdays or special moments, always making a person feel remembered and cherished.
Anyone who knew Shirley would know that she enjoyed music and dancing. If she was out somewhere, and the “Electric Slide” or “Cupid Shuffle” was played you would see Shirley on the dance floor. Shirley’s love of dancing continued until her final days, even dancing to “Boots on the Ground”.
Preceding Shirley in death was Mae R. Robinson (mother), Theodore Kelly (father), and brothers Ralph McCoy, Arthur Lewis, and Perry Lewis.
Shirley presence will be missed by her husband, Flecther Williams Jr.; stepdaughters, Tabatha Williams, Kimberly Miller (John); siblings, Connie McCoy, Diane McCoy, Joyce Dozier and Greg Lewis (Sharon); sisters-in-law, Catherine Morain, Eva Williams, Beatrice Rutledge and Marilyn Freeman (Rusty); brothers-in-law, Gilbert Williams, Phillip Williams (Barbara) and Willie B.
