Obituary For Teddy Kindred

Teddy Kindred, 68, of Columbus, GA passed on Saturday, August 1, 2026 in Columbus, GA.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. EST, Wednesday, August 12, 2026 at New Providence Baptist Church, Columbus, GA with Pastor Martai D. McCullough, Pastor, officiating. Burial to follow in Green Acres Cemetery. Public viewing will be from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. EST on Tuesday, August 11, 2026 at Taylor Funeral Home.


Teddy DeWayne Kindred was a native of Columbus, GA, born January 3, 1958 in Columbus, Georgia to loving parents, Mr. Walter Lee, & Ms. Melvin Pullins Kindred

He was the youngest of four children. Dorothy A. McBride “Dot” Elliott, H Kindred “Bubba”, Anita D. Kindred “Nita”

He attended the Muscogee County School district

His career started at Columbus Water Works, He later moved on to work for W.C. Bradley Cooperation until the closing of their business then he became a driver for Mr. Otis Scarbrough and Jay Alexander.

Teddy enjoyed shopping, going out to eat, attending church as well as having a love for singing. It was truly a Holy Ghost good time when Teddy got to sing. He enjoyed fellowship with his family and friends.

In Teddy's adult years, he joined the body of baptized believers of the Greater Beallwood Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend J.C. Cook. He was a member of New Providence Baptist Church until his passing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Dorothy A. McBride, his brother Elliott H. Kindred, a nephew, Victor Coppins and a niece CPT Stephanie Blanks also his favorite two brothers in love, Willie Fred (Jack) Jackson Jr. and John W. (LAW) McLendon Sr.

Teddy leaves to cherish his memories one sister, Anita D. McLendon of Columbus, GA; one sister in love Barbara A. Kindred of San Antonio, TX.

Left to carry on his memories are his nieces: Marion Williams of Columbus, GA, Freda Flowers (Walter) of West Palm Beach Florida, Roslyn Jackson (Calvin) of Columbus, GA, Deanna Whalen of Tampa, FL, Terri L. Pass (Paul) of Phenix City, AL, Kellie Goss (Avery) of Atlanta, GA, Aneesha J. Avalas (Tito) of Sierra Vista, Arizona, Tiffany Kindred (Chris) of Atlanta, GA. Nephews: Walter F. Jackson of Columbus, GA, Elliott H. Kindred Jr. of San Antonio, TX, Clifford Hubbard (Demita), John McLendon (Areatha) of Augusta, GA.

In addition, he held dear to his heart his great nieces and nephews.

Lifelong best friend Barbara Dowdell and countless other close friends as well as a host of relatives and friends.
