Obituary For Terrence Hardge

Mr. Terrence Hardge, 36, of Columbus, GA passed Wednesday, June 24, 2026 in Columbus, GA.

Funeral service will held 11:00 a.m. EST. on Friday, July 3, 2026 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Vincent Wilson, officiating. Burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Public visitation will be 1:00 p.m to 5:00 p.m. EST on Thursday, July 2, 2026.

Terrence Dennay Hardge, also known as "Sarge," and by many as "Slim," was born on September 7, 1989, to Walter C. Hardge and Lorinda Brooks Hardge. He transitioned and gained his wings on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at Piedmont Medical Hospital.

Terrence was a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend. He was a graduate of Central High School, Class of 2008. Terrence was a warrior. He taught us that faith meant trusting in Jehovah when the road was difficult to bear. He didn't give up. He inspired everyone who knew him. He fought a good fight and never complained.

As a son, he was everything we could have asked for. As a brother, they were each other's keeper. As an uncle, he loved his nephews. He was protected by his many cousins and friends. If you knew Terrence, you had to love him because he was one you could never forget. His life had meaning and purpose. He loved his family more than anything. He was the jokester you wouldn't believe. He had a gift for making you laugh.

At an early age, he learned how to deer hunt with his daddy, and you could not keep him out of those woods. He had an eye when it came to getting a deer, and that made his day. Then he became a fisherman. That was his most peaceful enjoyment. He would sit for hours doing what he did best. He would have gone every day if he could. But last, he was the grower of plants. He had a green thumb out of this world. Whatever he touched, he would grow.

His last employment was at AFLAC as a cook in the cafeteria, a job that he loved. Taught by both his mother and father, he became a great cook, and they loved him there. So, if you knew him, then you know you were put in his life for a reason because he never met a stranger. He was loving, strong, and had a kind soul.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jimmy Lee Brooks and Helen Hood Brooks, W.C. Hardge and Lizzie Bell Hardge; his aunts, Phyllis Joseph and Yteria Jones; and his uncle, Emmanuel Hardge.

He leaves to cherish his beloved mother, Lorinda Brooks-Hardge of Columbus, GA; his loving father, Walter C. Hardge of Phenix City, AL; his devoted brother, Tramaine C. Hardge of Columbus, GA; eight aunts, Gail (William) Floyd, Angela Hardge, and Tonya Hardge, all of Smiths, AL; Linda Vaughn, Willie (Terry) Young, Lisa Brooks, and Jennifer Brooks, all of Columbus, GA; and Brenda (Harry) Spivey of Phenix City, AL. He also leaves two uncles, Melvin (Melinda) Hardge and Danny (Tonya) Hardge of Smiths, AL; one sister, Carnikko Johnson of Phenix City, AL; two nephews, Malikai C. Hardge and Trenten Johnson; a bonus aunt, Patricia (Coop) Felton; a bonus sister, Latonya Pham; two special cousins, Kiara ("Peaches") Young and Jasmine Justice; a host of many loving cousins and friends; and most especially, his loving dog, Beauty.

Send flowers to the service of Terrence Hardge

My condolences to the Parents, Walter and Lurinda. Psalm 13:1-2 โ€” "How long, O Lord? Will you forget me forever? How long must I take counsel in my soul and have sorrow in my heart all the day?" Terrence was such a jovial human being, It was indeed a blessing to see such supportive untiring parents working together.... Walter, Although we're not counting, God knows your heart and all that you have done!!! All those tiring trips back and forth! I've missed your funny self too! They say all of your black hair is gone. Will I recognize you? See it didn't have to come to this. ๐Ÿ˜‚ (I could have said this in person)... People if you keep asking about a person or have a person on your mind, just let it be known. Make a way to see them if only for a minute to reminisce. Life is too short... We must keep in touch with people that have placed a positive mark on our lives for one reason or the other....I was so young right out of high school when Lurinda introduced me to Terrence father. Seeing your hardworking ethics and sternness had an effect on my life and I saw this effect in Terrence ! He was often unwavering in his thoughts and decisions and was always politically correct when getting his point across on a subject. He got that part from me, just teasing...Never have I ever seen such supportive parents allow their son the creativity to get in the kitchen and cook all of the strange things he hunted๐Ÿ˜‚. He was an amazing sportsman as well as a great cook. Terrence once had the nerve to offer me this beautiful brown gravy , smelling delicious and meat falling off the bone. I took one look in his little freezer and I should have caught a clue , but the greediness in me flooded my brain. Anybody that knows Terrence, knows WHAT I SAW IN THAT FREEZER! It was at this point that I knew that Walter and Lurinda could never be trusted again and that I almost fell for a trap that would have changed by taste buds forever๐Ÿ˜ฎ.

I'll just say THIS... PARENTS, JOB WELL DONE !! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’•

A Letter to Bay Dear Bay, There are few words in any language powerful enough to comfort the heart of a mother who has lost her child. Today, our hearts ache with you because we know that a part of your heart now lives in Heaven. But before the tears came, there was a beautiful story. There was a little boy who filled your home with laughter. There was a young man whose smile could brighten a room. There was a son who knew, beyond all doubt, that he was deeply loved. That was because of you. You gave Terrence something that no illness could ever take away the security of a mother's unconditional love. For nearly thirty years, you walked beside him through doctor's appointments, hospital rooms, insulin injections, prayers whispered in the middle of the night, and moments only a mother and God truly understand. You celebrated every victory, carried every burden, and never stopped believing in him. Many people saw Terrence's courage. Few saw yours. Behind every smile Terrence shared with the world was a mother who had spent countless nights praying for him.

Behind every obstacle he overcame was a mother encouraging him to keep going. Behind every laugh was the love of a woman who never stopped fighting for her son. Bay, Your greatest accomplishment was never measured by what you did. It was measured by who you raised. You raised a man whose kindness touched lives. A man whose laughter lifted heavy hearts. A man who loved his family deeply. A man who showed grace in suffering and faith in adversity. That is your legacy, too. Although Terrence's earthly journey has ended, the love between a mother and her son never ends. It cannot be buried. It cannot be separated by death. It lives in every memory, every smile, every fishing story, every family gathering where someone says, "Remember when Terrence" And one day, those tears will give way to the joy of seeing him again. Can you imagine that moment? The moment Terrence runs into your arms no diabetes, no pain, no weakness. Only joy. Only peace. Only perfect love. Until that glorious reunion, hold tightly to God's promise: "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit." Psalm 34:18 God has not forgotten your tears. He has counted every one of them. He has heard every prayer you have ever prayed for your son. And today, while your arms are empty, Terrence is safely held in the everlasting arms of the Savior you both trusted. When you miss his voice, listen for his laughter in your memories. When you miss his smile, remember the joy he brought to everyone he met. When you miss his embrace, know that the love you shared did not end; it simply changed from earthly presence to eternal promise.

Bay, thank you. Thank you for giving this family the gift of Terrence. Thank you for showing us what unwavering love looks like. Thank you for raising a son whose life reminded us that courage, faith, kindness, and laughter are among God's greatest gifts.

Your son fought bravely. He loved deeply. He finished well. And because of God's amazing grace, this is not goodbye. It is simply... Until we meet again. With all our love, prayers, and deepest sympathy, May God surround you with His peace, strengthen you with His love, and remind you every day that a mother's love is forever and so is the life of her son in Christ. I love you always your sister in Love, Angela Zarwolo

In Loving Memory of Terrence Hardge "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." 2 Timothy 4:7 Today, we gather with hearts that are broken, yet deeply grateful. Broken because someone we loved beyond words has gone home. Grateful because God blessed us with the incredible gift of Terrence Hardge. Terrence wasn't defined by an illness. He was defined by his heart. He was laughing. He was kind. He was strong. He was faithful. He was family. If Terrence walked into a room, you knew it. He had a gift for making people laugh. He was the family jokester, always finding a way to lift someone's spirit. Even on the hardest days, his smile could brighten a room, and his laughter reminded us that joy is one of God's greatest gifts. And if he wasn't making someone laugh, he was probably doing what he loved most, fishing. There was something peaceful about watching Terrence by the water. Today, I smile through my tears imagining him beside Heaven's still waters, completely healed, completely whole, finally at peace. For nearly thirty years, Terrence fought juvenile diabetes with extraordinary courage. Every needle. Every doctor's visits. Every challenge. Every silent battle. Yet he never let his disease define his life. Instead, he taught us what courage looks like. He taught us that strength is choosing to smile through pain. He taught us that faith means trusting God, even when the road is difficult. He didn't simply survive. He inspired everyone who knew him. Terrence was a beloved son, a devoted brother, an amazing uncle, a treasured grandson, a cherished nephew, a loving cousin, a loyal friend, and one of God's greatest warriors. To his mother, Lorinda, our beloved Bay... No one fought harder for Terrence than you. You prayed for him. You cared for him. You loved him every single day of his life. He never questioned your love because he lived in it. Today your heart is broken, but please remember this: You loved your son well. You stood beside him well. And because of you, he always knew he was deeply loved. To his brother, Tremaine... A brother is part of your story forever. Although Terrence's chair may be empty, his love will never be. Carry his laughter. Tell his stories. Live in a way that honors the incredible man he was. To his cousin Nikko... You, Tremaine, and Terrence were the Three Musketeers. That bond cannot be broken by death. One of you has simply gone ahead. The laughter you shared, the memories you created, and the love between you will remain forever. To his Uncle Harry and Auntie Brenda, thank you for loving Terrence like your own son. To his Auntie Linda, Auntie Lisa, Auntie Gail, Auntie Brooks, Auntie Jennifer, and the entire Brooks Family thank you for surrounding him with unwavering love throughout his life. And to his nephews... Thank you for giving Terrence one of his greatest joys, being your uncle. He loved you deeply, and the lessons, laughter, and love he gave you will remain in your hearts forever. The Bible tells us, "To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord." 2 Corinthians 5:8 Today, Terrence is with Jesus. No more insulin. No more hospital rooms. No more pain. No more suffering. Only perfect peace. I can only imagine the joy in Heaven as he was reunited with his beloved grandparents, Auntie Phyllis Joseph, his uncles, and all those who went before him. His race is finished. His healing is complete. His victory is eternal. Terrence leaves us more than memories. He leaves us a legacy. A legacy of courage. A legacy of faith. A legacy of laughter. A legacy of unconditional love. His jokes will still be told. His fishing stories will still make us smile. His name will still be spoken. Terrence Hardge His love will never leave this family. And God's Word gives us this promise: "He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the former things have passed away." Revelation 21:4 Sleep peacefully, our beloved Terrence. You fought with courage. You loved with your whole heart. You finished your race with honor. Though our hearts ache today, we rejoice knowing that you are finally home. Whole. Healed. Laughing. Smiling. Free. Until the day God calls us home and we see you again, we will carry your love in our hearts, tell your stories with joy, and thank God for the priceless gift of your life. We love you, Terrence. You will never be forgotten. Until we meet again.

We miss you already! That infectious smile with that gold tooth will never be forgotten. I really can't think of anytime that you took any situation serious, meaning you were just "THAT PERSON" that everybody loved to be around. So chilled. You made everybody around you laugh ! If there was one thing that you were never short of it , it was a good JOKE. Some were corny, but oooh so funny! 9 out of 10 of your jokes I couldn't crack, but I use to wonder.......Did he make up all these jokes himself, off the cuff? He could have been a stand up comedian with his quick Witt! My kids (grown now) Khristal (28) and Deric (39)send their condolences from Arizona and Dallas Texas. You and I reminisced last Saturday how Khristal as a baby would follow you every where you went and got on your nerves ๐Ÿ˜‚. You and Tremayne were so well mannered and made it so easy to fall in love with yall! Yall never missed a birthday party in Atlanta... All my friends there knew yall as family!!! I could go on and on, but I'll be fair and let others have a chance to talk about the shining light that has dimmed in your honor.... I will always feel the love when I hear your name!!!! Love Auntie Kim
