Obituary For Thelma Beverly Holmes

Mrs. Thelma Beverly "Doll" Holmes, 89, of Columbus, GA passed Thursday, December 22, 2022 in Columbus, GA.

Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. EST, Saturday, January 7, 2023 at Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church (Battle Community) Hurtsboro, AL with Rev. Ike Richardson, officiating. Interment to follow in the Church Cemetery. Visitation is Friday, January 6, 2023 from 12-3 p.m. EST.

She was born March 4, 1933 to the late Howard Beverly and Mary Williams Beverly. She was married over 50 years to the late Willie L. Holmes, Sr. and to this union Willie L. Holmes, Jr. and Beverly Holmes were born.

Thelma excepted Christ as her Savior at an early age. She was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church for over 50 years and served in several capacities.She was educated in the Russell County School System graduating from Russell County Training School. Thelma graduated from Columbus Area Vocational and Technical School in 1967. She was a cosmetologist in Columbus, GA for over 46 years.

Thelma was preceded in death by Helen Beverly, Desha Schikowski, Ben (Lee) Beverly, Henry (Nettie) Battles, James Holmes, Johnny Holmes and Jeff Holmes.

She leaves to mourn her passing, but celebrate her life two sisters, Ruth Beverly of Brooklyn, NY and Beverly (James) Brown-Jackson of Hurtsboro, AL; two brothers, King Beverly of Lima, OH and David Watts of Cleveland, OH; one son, Willie L. Homes, Jr. of Columbus, GA; one daughter, Beverly Holmes- Jackson of Columbus, GA. four granddaughters, Tyrnesa Holmes, Phoenix (Dwight) Strickland, Biano Gardner and Jasmine Banks-Jackson; four great granddaughters, Shakemmion Jackson, Tikezia Holmes, Kayla Jackson and Alexia Holmes; three great grandsons, Darius Jackson, Zecharia Holmes and Darrion Strickland; one great-great grandson, Anthony Holmes; four sisters-in-law, Evelyn Patterson, Bennie Mae Holmes, Fern Holmes and Eula (Keith) Francis and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
