Thomas L. Bailey, affectionately known as “Thom” or “Tommy”, was born on July 28, 1937, in Phenix City, Alabama, to the late Roosevelt and Willie Bell Bailey.
On June 1, 1968, in Thomaston, Georgia, Thom dedicated his life to Jehovah God through water baptism. From that day forward, he devoted his life to sharing Bible truths with others. He was a faithful and active member of the West Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Phenix City, where he served as a ministerial servant.
On September 20, 1958, Thom married the love of his life, Lillie Belle Cooper. Together, they shared 66 wonderful years of marriage.
Throughout his career, Thomas worked at several companies, including Tom’s Foods, W.C. Bradley, HAJOCA Plumbing, and Dolly Madison.Even after his retirement, his steadfast work ethic inspired him to return to the workforce, where he served with dedication as a security guard for Securitas Security.
Thom loved traveling with his family, listening to music, and had a deep passion for football—especially when watching games with his beloved wife. He was well known for his great sense of humor, his homemade pepper sauces, and his trademark greeting, calling everyone “Hey Tiger!” when names slipped his mind.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Roosevelt and Willie Bell Bailey, and his siblings: Murphy, Charles, Ruthie, Diane, Roger, Roosevelt Jr., Earsley, and Larry.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his devoted wife, Lillie Belle Bailey; five children, Gloria Kirk, Sylvia Bailey, Shari (Milton) Giles, Janice (Joel) Thomas, and Jameka Bailey; two grandsons, Xavier (Victoria) Bailey, and Thomas Jamal Bailey; two great-grandchildren, Bryson and Brynlee Bailey; two sisters, Shirley Gaines and Delphine McCoy; a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, spiritual brothers and sisters, and friends.
Thom will be remembered for his love of laughter and his ability to strike up a conversation with anyone he met. To his daughters, he was truly the best daddy in the universe.
