Ms. Torennia Lanell Cobb, 49, of Phenix City, AL passed Wednesday, December 14, 2022 in Atlanta, GA.
Funeral service will be 12 noon EST Friday, December 23, 2022 in the C.T. Chapel of Taylor Funeral Home with Rev. P. D. Johnson, officiating. Burial to follow in Lakeview Memory Gardens, Phenix City, AL. There will be no public visitation.
Ms. Torennia Minger-Cobb, affectionately known to many as “Puppy” was born February 24, 1973 to Julia Simpson and Larry Smith in Phenix City, Alabama.
She confessed Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age at Pine Hill Missionary Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Central High School class of 1991. She was a smart business woman and entrepreneur. If you could use one word to describe Torennia it would be “FAMILY”. She was the backbone. She had a smile that brought joy to a room & always there in a time of need.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Mittie Cobb, Lonnie Cobb, Sr., O.G Smith, Mary C. Smith, Grant Minger, Sr. and Gertrude Minger; stepfather, Grant Minger, Jr.; uncles, David Cobb, Henry Cobb, Berry Cobb, Jessie Cobb and Sammie Cobb and her aunt, Janice Kelley.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories three sons, Montavious Mathews, Corterrius Mathews and Deante Mathews of Phenix City, AL; mother, Julia (Lonnie) Simpson of Phenix City, AL; father, Larry (Rachel) Smith, Sr. of Barbour County, AL; dear sister, LaKetta Minger of Smith Station, AL; brothers, Larry Smith, Jr. and Marcus Smith of Barbour County, AL and Jamarlo (Ta’nisha) Alford-Minger of Opelika, AL; aunts, Fannie Cobb of Phenix City, AL, Georgia Phillips of Phenix City, AL, Barbara (Tom) Davis of Atlanta, GA, Delois (Elijah) Massey of Barbour County, AL, Mary Ann Salas of Phenix City, AL, Virginia Minger of Phenix City AL and Edna Minger of Phenix City, AL; uncles, Lonnie (Vivian) Cobb, Jr. of Phenix City, AL; Royzell (Sylvia) Minger and Horace (Geraldine) Smith, Sr. both of Montgomery, AL and Sylvester (Wilona) Smith of Yorktown, VA; niece, Miketta Robinson of Smith Station, AL; nephew, Miran Minger of Smith Station, AL; five grandchildren, Aubrey Mathews, Harmony Williams, Aaliyah Mathews, Nakai Chapman, Serenity Collier and Jayceon Jernigan; special cousin, Demario Gosha of Phenix City, AL and special best friend, Charlene Chadwick of Phenix City, AL; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
