Obituary For Veola Jones
Mrs. Veola Jones, 108, of Salem, AL passed Monday, June 20, 2022 in Phenix City, AL.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. EST, Saturday, June 25, 2022 at Concord Missionary Baptist Church, Salem, AL with Pastor Marshall S. Morgan, Sr., officiating. Interment to follow in the church cemetery. Visitation is Friday, June 24, 2022 from 3-5 p.m. EST.
Mrs. Jones, daughter of the late Tom and Mary J. (Lowe) Little was born January 6, 1914 in Lee County, AL. At an early age she united with Concord Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Kitchings and served until her health declined; she retired from the Lee County School System after 50+ years of service. She enjoyed spending time with her family and baking cakes.
Mrs. Jones was united in holy matrimony to Robert Jones and to this union eight children were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; four sisters, Fannie Rudd, Mattie Bridges, Emma J. Thomas and Susie Houston; four children, Ruth Allen, Rubin Jones, Tommie Lee Jones and Mattie Jean Roberson; five grandchildren, Earl Jones, Ronnie Roberson, Thelma Jones, Elmer Jones, and Terrance Jones.
Mrs. Jones leaves to cherish her precious memories; her four daughters, Ola (Albert) Davis and Mildred Thomas both of Smiths Station, AL; Minnie Jones of Salem, AL and Janette Brundidge of Phenix City, AL; one daughter-in-law, Bettye J. Jones of Salem, AL; 25 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren and 53 great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
