Obituary For Voncile McCrary

Ms. Voncile McCrary, 71, of Columbus, GA passed Sunday, February 12, 2023 in Columbus, GA.

Funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. EST Monday, February 20, 2023 at Greater Shady Grove Baptist Church, Columbus, GA with Dr. Marcus Gibson, pastor, officiating. Burial to follow in Green Acres Cemetery, Columbus, GA. Visitation will be Saturday, February 18, 2023 from 3-5 p.m. EST.

Voncile McCrary was born on April 1, 1951 in Columbus, GA to the late Benjamin Weldon, Sr. and Katie Weldon.

She was called home to be with the Lord on February 12, 2023 at Columbus Hospice in Columbus, GA.

Voncile relocated to Columbus, OH in her teens where she lived for more than 20 years before returning home to Columbus, GA in 1989. She was a homemaker and worked as a housekeeper and nanny for many years.

Voncile was a member of Greater Shady Grove Baptist Church, had a love for God and his word and could often be found reading the bible or listening to gospel music. She was a prayer warrior and was always willing to pray for someone in need.

She cherished spending quality time with family and friends, enjoyed shopping and dining out and adored flowers. Her loving kindness, great sense of humor and contagious smile will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.

Voncile was preceded in death by her brothers, Roger Weldon, Sr., Jerome Weldon, and Benjamin Weldon, Jr.

Voncile McCrary leaves to cherish her memories, loving children, Monica Parks, Fredrick McCrary, Alexander (Shaton) McCrary all of Columbus, OH and Robin McCrary of Smyrna, GA; siblings, Juanita Richardson of Columbus, OH, Effie Dowdell of Columbus, GA, Retha Ann Thomas, Jacob (Jan) Weldon, Eddie Carl Weldon all of Columbus, OH and Terry Weldon of Columbus, GA; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and a host of extended family and dear friends.
