Mr. Washington Baker, a devoted husband, father, and friend, peacefully departed this life on October 8, 2025, at the age of 80.

Born on January 19, 1945, in Tampa, Florida, Washington was the proud son of the late Mattie Thomas and Artie Baker. He was educated in the Opelika, Alabama, school system and was a proud graduate of Sanford High School.

Throughout his life, Washington worked diligently as a contractor of seasonal migrant workers in the fruit and vegetable industry. His dedication, leadership, and compassion for others earned him deep respect and admiration from those who knew him.

Washington shared 59 beautiful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Mrs. Clara Baker. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and purpose, and were blessed with two children who brought them immense pride and joy.

A man of many talents, Washington loved cars and mechanical work. He could often be found fixing engines, sharing stories, and bringing laughter wherever he went. Known as the life of the party, his warm smile and joyful spirit left a lasting impression on everyone he met. When he wasn’t working or spending time with family, he enjoyed relaxing and watching his favorite Westerns.

He leaves to cherish his memory,
his loving wife, Mrs. Clara Baker; seven children, Kimblyn Mechelle Adkins of Phenix City, AL; Michael Baker of Phenix City, AL; Monica Dorn of Apopka, FL; Shermon Dorn of Apopka, FL; Temeka Baker of Apopka, FL; Jacqueline Knight of Apopka, FL; and Tangla Carmichael of Apopka, FL; one brother, Lincoln Walton of Opelika, AL; seventeen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends who will forever hold him close in their hearts.
