Graveside service will be held 12:30 p.m. EST, Wednesday, March 6, 2024, Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery in Ft. Mitchell, AL. No public viewing. Repast will follow at 7 Uchee Creek Road, Ft. Mitchell, AL.
Willie Lee Gregg was born in Sumter, South Carolina, on March 5, 1955, to the late Willie Gregg and Claudia Linton Gregg. He was the 3rd of 6 children. Willie departed this life on Monday, February 26, 2024, surrounded by loving family. Willie was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Patricia Blanding, and his brother Johnnie Gregg, two sisters-in-law, Dienese Pellman and Chandra Ford, and his mother-in-law, Lillie Vaughn.
Willie graduated from Sumter High School in 1975, where he met his wife of 45 years, Winifred Brown Gregg. Shortly after graduation, Willie enlisted in the US Army and proudly served his country for 21 years, retiring honorably, before beginning his second career as a supply technician for the Department of Defense, where he served until his retirement in 2015.
Willie leaves behind his beloved wife, Winifred Gregg, of 45 years, two loving children, Willie Gregg Jr (Wendy) of Newnan, GA, Angela Patton (Dameon) of Dallas, GA, and one granddaughter, Elissa Patton, who was the light of his life. Two sisters, Sallie Cheatham (Ronald) of Phenix City, Al, and Claudine Greene (Kenneth) of Elgin, SC. One brother, Larry Gregg (Shirley) of Lynchburg, SC, and one brother-in-law, Renard Ford of Sumter, SC, and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
