Arthur Harris

Arthur Edmond Harris was born to the late Madgeline and the late Roger Harris on December 20, 1940, in Dickson, TN. He departed this life on October 12, 2025 at Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee.
Arthur understood the need for spiritual guidance and accepted Christ as his personal Savior at an early age at Chestnut Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Charlotte, TN. He later attended Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church under the late Percy J. Clark in Nashville, TN.
Arthur attended the Dickson public school system and graduated from Hampton High School in Dickson, TN. He started his career as a professional truck driver with various companies before settling at State Stove Water Heater for nearly 30 years. He was affectionally known as “Music City Ditty Bopper”. Those who knew him well, called him “Ditty Bopper” He developed many friends during his years at State Water Heater. He was known for his cheerful demeanor, always greeting you with a smile and a few jokes to share. His big truck often stood out from the rest, remarkably clean and brightly lit, it reflected the pride he took in riding in a clean vehicle for work or leisure.
Arthur was a loving and dedicated father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and a cherished friend to countless individuals. He found great joy in being surrounded by family, whether during holiday celebrations or at any gathering that brought loved ones together. He enjoyed watching football (Cowboys was his favorite team), listening to music and dancing. “Ditty Bopper” also loved motorcycles. He was a member of the Gold Wing Motorcycle Club and enjoyed cruising on his motorcycle in his younger years and driving the Gold Wing tour bus for trips and rallies. He also enjoyed going to the Northwest YMCA weekday mornings where he would spend some time on the treadmill but more time at the round table drinking coffee and talking with friends.
Arthur was preceded in death by his beloved older sister, Ethel Mae Mallory, and his cherished companion, Bessie Bell. His younger brother, Herman Harris of Michigan passed away one day Arthur departed this life.
Arthur leaves to cherish his memory, his sons, James Bell, Darrell (Corrie) Sebree, daughters; Lawayn Renee Bell, Shawayn Menee Bell, Brenda (Martin) Reed, sisters Gaynell Daniels and Beatrice Williams, brothers: Hermann (Melba) Harris and Bobby Dean (Regina) Harris, grandchildren; Tiana Horton, Valencia Bell, Xavier Womack, Lauryn Reed, Jaylan Bell, Cherish Sebree, Keri Sebree. great grandkids; Kali, Karmin, Xaleeya, Dawson and Otto. Dear friends, Charles Smith, Jerry Lanier, Donnell Fitzgerald (Super D), devoted neighbor, Crystal Hall-Frierson and a host of loving nieces, nephews and many other family and friends.
