Obituary For Christine Thomas

Christine Thomas
Mar 31, 1929 — Sep 10, 2026

Christine Elizabeth Thomas was born on March 31, 1929, in Nashville, Tennessee. On September 10, 2026, Christine peacefully answered the call to be with the Lord.

From an early age, Christine accepted Christ and was baptized. Her faith became a beautiful part of who she was and remained with her throughout her long and blessed life. She trusted in the Lord and carried that faith with her through every season of life.

Christine attended school and, began working to help care for her elderly grandmother. Even as a young woman, she understood the meaning of love, responsibility, and family. Caring for her grandmother was one of the many ways Christine showed the giving heart that would become such a meaningful part of her life.

On December 10, 1961, Christine married Mr. Curly Thomas. She was a devoted wife who cherished her family and the life they shared together.

Christine had a heart for people. She loved people, and there is no doubt that people loved her right back. She loved her neighbors, her friends, and, most of all, her family. Christine never met a stranger. She could sit down with almost anyone and strike up a conversation, making them feel welcome and comfortable.

She found happiness in the simple things. Christine was an amateur gardener who loved planting flowers and watching them grow. She enjoyed seeing each flower bloom and took pride in caring for them. Her love of gardening was a reflection of her own life—she nurtured the things she loved, and in return, they brought beauty and joy into her world.

Christmas held a very special place in Christine’s heart. It was her favorite holiday, and she loved decorating her home. Her dancing Santa and her little Christmas tree were special parts of her Christmas tradition. Those who knew Christine knew how much joy those decorations brought her.

Christine also loved her trips to the hair salon. To her, it was more than just getting her hair done—it was a chance to visit, laugh, talk, and catch up with everyone around her. She loved conversation and enjoyed talking with anyone and everyone.

She also made it a point to stay connected to her friends. Christine enjoyed calling her friends every day, checking on them and talking about the latest happenings in the neighborhood. Those daily conversations were part of her routine, but they were also a reflection of how much she cared. Christine wanted to know how people were doing, and she wanted them to know that she was thinking about them.

Christine enjoyed her peaceful Friday nights listening to music, her Saturdays spent cleaning and taking care of her home, and her quiet Sunday car rides around the city. These ordinary moments became beautiful memories because Christine knew how to find happiness in everyday life.

And if you knew Christine, you probably knew one of her favorite meals: a cheeseburger, fries, and a Diet Pepsi. And after receiving her meal, she would often say in her own special way, “Thaaankya.” Those words were simple, but they said so much about Christine. She was grateful. She appreciated the little things. She knew how to say thank you and mean it from her heart.

Christine was a loving mother to her two children, Linda and Ronald. Her family was a precious part of her life, and the love she gave them will continue through the memories they carry in their hearts.

Christine’s life was not measured only by the years she lived, but by the lives she touched. She left little pieces of herself everywhere—in the flowers she planted, the Christmas decorations she lovingly put out, the conversations she shared, the phone calls she made, the music she enjoyed, the Sunday rides she took, and in every “Thaaankya” spoken with a grateful heart.

She will be deeply missed by her children, family, friends, neighbors, and all who had the blessing of knowing her. There will be an empty place where Christine once sat, a quietness where her voice once filled the room, and a longing for just one more conversation, one more phone call, one more smile.

But although our hearts are heavy with her absence, we can find comfort knowing that Christine’s journey on earth has ended, and her eternal journey with the Lord has begun.

Christine, you were loved. You are still loved. And you will never be forgotten.

Rest peacefully, Christine. Keep watching over the flowers of heaven. Your earthly work is finished, your race has been run, and now you can rest in the loving arms of the Lord.

Until we meet again, may your memory forever be a blessing.

Christine Elizabeth Thomas was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Mr. Curly Thomas; her father, Willie Cartwright; her mother, Rebecca Martin; her loving son, Ronald Cartwright; her cherished grandson, Charles Cartwright; her five brothers and sisters; and many other beloved family members and dear friends.

Christine carried the love and memories of each of them in her heart throughout her life. Their passing left an emptiness that words cannot fully express, but we find comfort in knowing that on September 10, 2026, Christine was welcomed home into eternal rest and reunited with those she loved.

We can only imagine the joy of that heavenly reunion—where there is no more sorrow, no more pain, and no more goodbyes. After a long and beautiful life, Christine is once again surrounded by the loved ones who went before her.

Though our hearts are heavy because she is no longer here with us, we can take comfort in knowing that she is resting peacefully in the arms of the Lord.

Gone from our sight, but forever held in our hearts.

Those Left to Cherish Her Memory

Christine Elizabeth Thomas leaves to cherish her precious memory and celebrate the beautiful life she lived, her loving daughter, Linda Cunningham; granddaughter, Alvinneka Cartwright; grandsons, Chase Cartwright and Ronald (Candice) Cartwright Jr.; and her great-grandchildren, Selena Meriweather, Emanuel Meriwether, Sariyah Cartwright, and Ronald Cartwright III.

Christine’s greatest joy was the love she shared with her family. Each of them holds a special piece of her heart and carries with them the memories of her love, laughter, kindness, and the many moments they shared together.

Though they will miss her presence, her voice, her conversations, and her loving ways, they will continue to celebrate the life she lived and the legacy of love she leaves behind.

Her memory will live on through every story told, every smile shared, and every heart she touched.

She may be gone from this earthly home, but the love she gave will live on forever.
