Emma Clemmons peacefully departed this life on December 17, 2025. She was born in Uvalde, Texas, to Ruth Franklin and Leroy Stone. Emma was united in life with the Non-Denominational Church of God in Christ and later became a devoted member of Sabbath Day Church of God in Christ, where her faith continued to guide her throughout her life. She pursued her education in nursing at St. Philip’s College in San Antonio, Texas. Following college, Emma moved to Atlanta, Georgia, where she worked briefly as a nurse at Grady Memorial Hospital. She later continued her nursing career at Baptist Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee, where she served faithfully for 35 years. After decades of caring for others, she retired and enjoyed 17 years of retirement.

Emma met the love of her life, Riley Clemmons while she was in college and he was serving in the military. They dated until his deployment, during which time they lost contact. After his return to Tennessee, and while Emma was working in Atlanta, she made the decision to move to Tennessee and look him up. Their reunion continued a love story that led to marriage on October 23, 1970. They shared 55 years of marriage and were blessed with three children.

Emma was a devoted wife, a nurturing mother, and a loving grandmother. She is survived by her husband Riley, her children Kevin (Renee), Lee, and Chris (Jess), and her cherished grandchildren Harper and Otto.

She extended her love beyond traditional family lines by welcoming others as her own. Emma lovingly adopted into her family her niece Quinetta “Tutly” Clemmons, as well as Donnell Martin, John Sloss, and Mya Hall.

Emma was one of nine siblings. She was preceded in death by her parents Ruth Franklin and Leroy Stone and her siblings Josephine “Jose,” Maxine, Lugene, Charles, Martin, and Sharon. She is survived by her siblings Kay and Leroy Jr.

Outside of her professional life, Emma found joy in gardening and home projects, taking pride in creating and maintaining a warm, welcoming home.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Julie Agee and Heather Shucraft, two remarkable women whose care, compassion, and dedication brought comfort and support to Emma.

Emma leaves behind a legacy of love, service, resilience, and faith. Her life touched many, and her memory will be forever cherished by all who knew her. One thing that will never be forgotten is her laughter. When she laughed, her shoulders would bounce up and down.
