Johnnie Lake Steele, Sr. the son of Noel Lae and Henrietta Hemphill Steele was born on May 25, 1942, in Calhoun County, Mississippi. Johnnie was the fifth of twelve children eight of which proceeded him in death. He was called home on June 25, 2026.

Johnnie attended Jackson Madison County School. Upon graduation High School, Johnnie moved to Nashville, Tennessee and attended Auto Diesel College here he earned his ASE-Certified Master of Automobile Tech degree and retired at Bruce Hardwood Lumber Co. Johnnie accepted Christ at an early age. He was later baptized into Christ at the Lane Chapel CME Church in Jackson, Tn.

Johnnie had several hobbies, but his main was auto mechanics. If you were around him working on an automobile, you just be ready because he was the teacher and you were the student. Johnnie loved his family dearly, loved to tell jokes and stories. Johnnie fought a good fight against his heart problems.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his late wife, Ruthie Steele and eight siblings.

Those left to cherish his memories 3 sons, Johnnie Lake Steele, Jr., Kevin (Sheila) Steele, Mark (Amanda) Steele, daughter, Bridgette (Roland) Steele Dial, ex-wife, Judy Steele Johnson five sisters-in-law, 2 brothers-in-law, 10 great grand children and a host of nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
