Obituary For Monica Green

Monica Green
Feb 2, 1963 — Oct 2, 2026

Monica Renee Green was born on February 2, 1963, in Nashville, Tennessee to her parents, Nellie Newsom-Green and Willie Green and passed away peacefully on October 2, 2026. Affectionately known as “Pocahontas,” Monica touched countless lives with her warmth, humor, and genuine spirit.

Monica was baptized and accepted Christ at Rose of Sharon Primitive Baptist Church. She truly loved and cherished her Rose of Sharon family. She faithfully served in the choir, where she lovingly became known as the “Caboose” of the Choir. After the church closed its doors, she continued her faith journey by visiting local churches. She loved worshiping God and had a remarkable ability to make herself feel right at home wherever she went.

Monica lived a life marked by love, kindness, and devotion to her family and friends. Above all, she was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend. She found great joy in making people laugh and bringing smiles to their faces. Those who knew Monica will remember her warm smile, generous spirit, unwavering strength, infectious sense of humor, and wisdom/metaphors.

Monica loved having a good time no matter where she was. One of her most admirable qualities was her authenticity—whenever you saw Monica, you got the same person. She never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. She loved her children with all her heart. Of her many roles, she especially cherished being “Nana” to her grandchildren, who brought immense joy to her life. Her presence and beautiful spirit will forever be remembered and deeply missed.

Though she is no longer with us, Monica's love, guidance, and example will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Monica leaves to cherish her memory her five children: Romonica “Munchies” (Nate) Farley, Nekia “Coco” Green, Charquis “Love” Green, Monico “Dude” Green Sr., and Montana “G-Mony” (India) Green; six grandchildren: Tania Wilkerson, Monico (Shemica) Green Jr., Kailee Green, Ra’Keem Howse, Mason Green, and Myla Green; bonus mom, Erma Boone; seven bonus children: Toya, Natasha, Marshawn, Maurice, JT, Jaydee, and Jenarius; two sisters, Beverly Newsome and Phyllis Green; one brother, Dennis Green; devoted & dedicated nephew, Monroe “Stoney” Johnson, nephews: Dusharn, Monteze, Loteze, Mario, Anthony and Johnny; nieces: Quiana, Amanda, Britney, Kiara, Tateania, Kelonda, and Rolanda; an uncle, Archie Hambrick; beloved friends, Pete, Nefertiti, and Michael; her furry son, Power Agape Green, several other nieces, nephews, bonus grandchildren; and a host of extended family members, cousins, and friends.
