Mother Barbara Taylor
Aug 13, 1934 — Jun 14, 2026
With profound sadness but deep gratitude for a life well-lived, we announce the passing of Mother Barbara Louise Taylor, who departed this world on June 14, 2026, at the age of 91. Born on August 13, 1934, in St. Louis, Missouri, Barbara was the cherished daughter of the late Burliegh and Anna Hines. Her journey through life was marked by resilience, compassion, and unwavering faith.
A proud graduate of the Metropolitan Public School system, Barbara furthered her education at Tennessee State University, where she earned a degree that would be the foundation of a remarkable career dedicated to serving others. For over forty years, she worked as a Social Worker in the Metropolitan Public Health system, touching countless lives with her kindness, empathy, and professional excellence. Beyond her professional achievements, Barbara found great joy and spiritual fulfillment as an active member of the Gospel United Missionary Baptist Church. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, and she served on the Mothers Ministry with dedication and love until her health no longer allowed. Her deep knowledge of the Bible and her ability to quote scripture brought comfort and inspiration to many. In her leisure time, Barbara found solace and creativity in working with ceramics, crafting beautiful pieces that reflected her artistic spirit. Her love for reading the Bible was both a source of personal strength and a way to connect with others, sharing the wisdom and hope found within its pages.
Mother Barbara Louise Taylor leaves behind a family who adored her deeply and who carry her strength within them every day. She is preceded in death by four former husbands, four loving siblings, and one devoted son.
She is lovingly survived by Ricky (Ruby) Bynum, Donald (Wanda) Hines, Ronald Taylor, Phynetta (Bobby) Taylor James, Mark (Denyel) Coleman, Chris Coleman, Julia (David) Steward, and John Hines—
Each one shaped in some way by her wisdom, her prayers, and her unwavering love. She also leaves a beautiful legacy through her many grandchildren and great‑grandchildren, who will forever remember her gentle spirit, her warm presence, and the faith-filled foundation she laid for them.
