Ollie Holmes McCaskill
March 20, 1952 — May 23, 2026
Mrs. Ollie Holmes-McCaskill, a native of Nashville, Tennessee, was born March 20, 1952. She entered her heavenly home Saturday, May 23, 2026. She was the third born of eight children to John Wesley Sr. and Mary Etta Holmes.
Ollie accepted Christ as her personal Savior at a young age and was baptized at Greater St. John Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend F.M. Spence. At the age of six, Ollie helped lead the Annual Sunday School Installation parade with Reverend Turner.
Ollie attended Metro Nashville Public Schools. In her early years she pursued a career in the nursing field for years until finding joy in driving transportation for Metro Nashville Public Schools.
Ollie loved the Lord and remained grounded in the Word of God. She remained faithful and was active in the GSJ Mass Choir for many years. Years later, Ollie was selected and chosen to be on the Mother Board of Greater St. John M.B. Church where she remained faithful until her health failed. She was a beautiful example of faithfulness, her presence in the church and in the lives of others will always be remembered and cherished.
Ollie found great joy in helping raise her nieces and nephews and in caring for others. She cherished time with her loved ones. Family gatherings were among her favorite occasions.
Watching the Tennessee Titans play football was one of the things she enjoyed most.
Ollie was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Mr. Arttis McCaskill, and together they shared a loving marriage for many years.
Ollie was preceded in death by her loving Parents; John Wesley Sr. and Mary Etta Holmes, Siblings; John Jr., Henrietta Holmes- Singleton, Marylin and Casie Holmes, Nephews; Sean Holmes Sr., Sean Holmes Jr., and Antonio Holmes Sr.
Ollie memories will forever be cherished by loving sons; Benny (Andrea) Johnson and James Holmes Sr., Grandchildren, Bre’Jae, Elaindra, Omaure Johnson, James Holmes Jr., Ke’Andrea Rainey and Asia Kelly; Great grandchildren; Mason Johnson, E’Loni Cade, A’Kelee Newcomb, Kenzlee and Semaj Sims, Loving Sisters; Gayle and Hazel Holmes; Loving Brother; Harry Holmes; Nieces and Nephews; Pam Steward, Kevin (Betty) Holmes Sr., Tina Holmes, Leonardo (Tammy) Holmes Sr., Lana Holmes, Kimberly Briley, Toyia Holmes, Wesley Holmes Sr., Stephano Holmes, Anthony Holmes Sr., Gabrielle, and Henrietta Holmes; Loving Friends; Alvina (Sherry) Williams, Constance Dixon, Thersea, Deacon Marshall Weaver, Phyllis Brown, and Mother Ellie Thompson, Cousins; The Moore Family; Host of other devoted great nieces, nephews and friends.
