Nashville - Our beloved mother and grandmother, Verlie Geraldine Olden peacefully passed away aged 90 at home after a brief illness on Tuesday January 16, 2018, in Nashville, TN. She dedicated herself to serving others in her family, church and in the community. She worked as a nurse for 30 years spending a majority of career employed by the Veterans Administration. She was a loving, outspoken matriarch, who was always supportive of others. She is survived by children Mary Parks, Robert Olden, Alice Olden, Betty Olden, Gerald Davis (Diana) and Paul Davis; grandchildren Kevin Olden (Consuela), Shonica (James) Gardner, Yashica Olden, Monique (Strohn) Johnson, Angela White, Tamara White-Byrd(Tony), Samuel White, Kendra Garcia (Francis), Gerald Davis III (Clarissa), Santana Brown, Deniseya Davis, Ashton Cole; a brother Donald Higgins; a host of great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband Namon Olden and daughter, Bertha White. Her passing is a great loss. The Homegoing celebration will take place Wednesday, January 24,2018, at Gordon Memorial United Methodist Church (2334 Herman Street, Nashville) at 10am viewing and 11am Funeral. The burial will take place at the Veterans Cemetery in Pegram, TN, at 1pm.
