Judge Sherrell Zemetrice Terry was born in LaGrange, Georgia on January 30, 1976, to the loving parents of Judge John Raymond and the late Peggy Ann Anderson Terry.
Sherrell attended Central Elementary in Talbatton, Georgia, and was a 1994 graduate of Great Bridge High School in Chesapeake, Virginia. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in English from The University of Georgia in Athens, GA. Sherrell later pursued her Funeral Director and Embalmer licenses from Gupton Jones College of Funeral Service in Decatur, GA.
She was a devoted daughter, sister, and cousin who was extremely fond, as well as an advocate, of children. Sherrell truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures, chatting with friends and family, snacking and spending time with her young cousins. She also loved to travel. Sherrell had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way. Sherrell had a bright and energetic personality and was known for her ability to sense when people needed her assistance. She touched many lives with her generosity and passion for life. Sherrell was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., where she served her community.
Sherrell was co-owner and director of The Terry Family Funeral Home in Talbotton and Hamilton, Georgia.
As an adolescent, she joined New Hope Baptist Church in Manchester, Georgia. She later became a member of New Birth Outreach Church in Fortson, Georgia under the leadership of Pastor Carlos D. Coleman.
Sherrell was known for her infectious smile, but it was her door to door canvassing, organization skills, and commitment to hard work that manifested into her becoming the first female Magistrate and Probate Judge for Talbot County.
Sherrell was preceded in death by her baby son John Raymond Terry II, her mother Peggy A. Terry, maternal grandparents Max and Velma Anderson and paternal grandparents Willie and Carrie Mae Terry and a cousin who she loved dearly Maxine Warren who she often called her Lil Mama.
She leaves to cherish her memories her father: Judge John R. (Daphne) Terry, a loving sister: Shatara Terry of Dallas, Texas; three uncles Jonah (Annie) Anderson, Clifford Terry and Sammie Terry, five Aunts; Maxine (Joe) Trice, Helen Pollard, Mattie (Perry) Dent, Ivera Powell, Bernice Terry, a host of cousins, relatives and friends.

Sherrell I still don't have the adequate words. The memories just keep flooding in from Easter Sundays at New Hope to crossing those burning sands. You are greatly missed. I love you ❤️
I can't express in words how saddened I am. Sherrell was so much more than a mentor and friend. I am definitely gonna miss our 1-2 hour phone conversations, her fussing at me about "her angel", and so many memories we made and had planned to make in the future. But I know God had bigger and better plans that we cannot compete with. I love and miss you girl!❤️ Kim
