Obituary For Annie Lois Duncan

Graveside services for Mrs. Annie Lois Duncan, 91, will be 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 22, 2020 at Talladega Memorial Gardens. Reverend A. G. McKinney will officiate. Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. on Friday, August 21, 2020.

Mrs. Annie Lois Ragland Duncan was born on February 5, 1929, in Talladega County to the late Mr. I. V. Ragland and the late Mrs. Lou Ella Elston-Tanner.

At an early age, Lois accepted Christ as her personal savior and united with Greater Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church where she served as president of the Nurses Guild and as cook and server on the kitchen committee. She was educated in the Talladega County School System and was a graduate of Talladega County Training School. Lois was a seamstress for Palm Beach Company and a hair dresser. Whenever she had free time, Lois enjoyed cooking and reading her Bible faithfully.

On August 14, 2020, Annie Lois answered her Master’s call and the “three amigos” were reunited again: Pearl McKinney, Viola Burroughs and now Lois. She was preceded in passing by her husband, Benjamin Duncan; three children, Edgar Smith, Jr., Brenda K. Whitfield and Roger B. Smith; two grandsons, Stephen Whitfield, Jr. and Justin T. Moon; her parents I. V. Ragland and Lou Ella Elston-Tanner; and a sister, Mattie R. Curry.

She leaves to cherish her memories: three daughters, Doreatha S. Moon, Gwenda F. Garza and Jacqueline D. (Elder Willie, Sr.) Hearn of Talladega, Alabama; four sons, Anthony L. “Tony” Smith of Snellville, Georgia, Darrell R. (Darlene) Smith of Granite City, South Carolina, Randy L. (Tryvetta) Smith of Atlanta, Georgia and Don L. (Sabrina) Smith of College Park, Georgia; twenty-two grandchildren, twenty-seven great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren; special friends, Mattie Pearl Chandler, Annette Jackson, Catherine Collins and Carolyn Kirksey Rowls; and a host of other relatives and friends.
