A writer once said that a mother's love is unconditional and everlasting. A mother's love is a special bond between a mother and her child that can never be broken. Mothers will give up their own happiness for the sake of their children. The love a mother has for her children cannot be measured or described in words. One such mother began her earthly journey on June 8, 1960. Avyline Dark Benson was born in Talladega, Alabama to the union of Willie Charles Dark and Thelma Brown Dark.

Ms. Benson dedicated her life to Christ and united in faith with Smith Chapel United Methodist Church. She was raised in the Munford community where she was educated and became a graduate of Munford High School. After completing her education, Avyline entered the working world to provide for herself and her family that was to come. She had been employed with Camp Mac, Wal-Mart, Talladega Healthcare Center and lastly Tyson Foods. When she was not working, Avyline found joy in singing, cooking and fishing.

Avyline’s legacy will live on through her four daughters, Lillie M. (Alkera) Garrett of Anniston, Alabama, Denece Dark (Doncarlos Garrett) of Alpine, Alabama, Tasha Dark (Stevon) Rogers of Eastaboga, Alabama and Brandi Dark of Talladega, Alabama; ten grandchildren; three sisters, Wendolyn (Edward) Richardson, Denece Joyce (Andrew) Pearson and Margie (Terry Wayne) Jemison all of Talladega, Alabama; two brothers, Willie C. Dark, Jr. and Edward Lynch of Talladega, Alabama; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

On May 23, 2023, Avyline’s earthly journey came to a close and her eternal began. On this new eternal journey, she was reunited with her parents, Willie C. and Thelma Dark; and her sister, Judy Gail Dark.
