SUNRISE
Barbara Jordan Haley was born to the late Robert E. Jordan Sr. and Louise R. Jordan on April 14, 1949. She was the oldest of six children.
DASH
Barbara was educated in the Talladega City School System in Alabama. She graduated from Westside High School in 1967. At an early age, she developed a love for sewing. She was an excellent seamstress, sewing for special occasions like weddings, proms, and costumes for school plays.
On June 15, 1970, she was united in holy matrimony to the late Ernest Haley. They remained united in marriage for 19 years until Ernest’s untimely death in April of 1989, when he put up a hard-fought battle against cancer. To this union, two children were born. She dedicated her early life to being a stay-at-home mom to her children.
She joined Mount Welcome Missionary Baptist Church under the pastoral leadership of Rev. Charles W. Grant. She remained a member until she gained her wings to heaven.
Barbara Haley was last employed with Initial Cleaning Services, where she retired in 2014. She worked for over twenty years in custodial services.
Barbara had a love for her family. Affectionately known to her family and friends as “Bobbie”. She valued each relationship, especially with her grandchildren, who lovingly called her “MeMa.” Her laughter was infectious, and she loved to bowl. She and her late husband, Ernest enjoyed bowling in a league for years. She shared a special ‘Chardonay’ bond with her longtime neighbor, Raylanda Anderson.
