Obituary For Bobby Ray Threatt

A funeral service for Brother Bobby Ray Threatt, 75, of Pell City will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 12, 2023, at Terry’s Mortuary Chapel. Interment will be held in the First Baptist Church Cropwell Cemetery. There will not be a public visitation.

Bobby Ray Threatt was born on May 24, 1948, to the union of Henry Threatt and Rosa Mae Thomas Threatt in Cropwell, Alabama.

Once learning of the love and goodness of Jehovah, Bobby united with the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Pell City. He was educated in the St. Clair County school system where he was a graduate of St. Clair County Training School. Bobby went on to further his education at Gadsden State Junior College and Gadsden State Trade School. On February 18, 1971, Bobby enlisted in the United States Army and served honorably until his discharge on November 19, 1973. He went on to serve in the National Guard until retirement in December 1991. Professionally, Bobby worked for Avondale Mills before establishing a career with the State of Alabama Department of Corrections. He began working in the St. Clair Correctional Facility in Springville, Alabama on September 26, 1982, and remained a dedicated correctional officer until his retirement on November 30, 2008. When he was not work and during his days of relaxation after retirement, Bro. Threatt enjoyed fishing, drawing and solving riddles.

Bobby took the hand in marriage of the former Peggy Turner on January 2, 1983. To this union, he became the proud stepfather of Angela Turner.

Beautiful memories of Bro. Threatt will remain in the heart of his wife of 40 years, Peggy T. Threatt; his daughter, Angela T. (Darryl) Dunham; one granddaughter, Logan Dunham; stepmother, Rebecca Jean Threatt; five sisters, Clementine Threatt, Mary Lou (Earnest) Mitchell, Beverly Threatt, Stacey Threatt and Josephine Marbury; seven brothers, Terry Threatt, Eric (Latoya) Threatt, Derrick (Sharonda) Threatt, Edgar Battle, Johnnie (Vernice) Jones, Jarvis Wilkes and Cassius (MiMi) Wilkes; and a host of aunts, sisters-in-law, other relatives and friends.

Years of love and friendship came to a close when Bobby Ray Threatt went to sleep in death on June 7, 2023, at Noland Hospital-Birmingham. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Rosa Threatt; three siblings, Brenda Threatt Kidd, Rebecca Ann Threatt and Wilbert Threatt; and a nephew, Victor Threatt.
