Ms. Carleva Anita Woodgett was born on Friday, May 17, 1968 to Mr. Carl R. Woodgett, Sr. and the late Mrs. Eva M. Woodgett in Talladega, AL.
At an early age, she confessed Christ and was baptized at Lilly Hill Missionary Baptist Church. Carleva was a devoted member who loved church and served in many positons; namely, an adult choir member, head of the kitchen staff, the decorating committee and many others.
While attending school, she played in the high school band and graduated with the Class of 1986 at Talladega High School. Carleva was a former employee of New South Express. Carleva was very active in her community. She was a part of many organizations such as the Energizers Social and Savings Club, a daughter of College City Temple No. 823 for many years serving as treasurer, treasurer of Ethel Chapter No. 75 of The Order of Easter Star, was a member of T7 and Red Hatters and president of the Martin Luther King Parade.
A great daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend, Carleva left an immeasurable impact on all our lives. She leaves to cherish her memories: her father, Carl Woodgett, Sr. of Lineville, AL; sons, Jermon (Lakesha) Woodgett of Talladega, AL; LaMarcus (Taneisha) Woodgett of San Diego, CA; daughters, Charlitha (Dervron) Woodgett of Oxford, AL and Alyssia (Sytrina) Chatman of Talladega, AL; grandchildren, Benjamin Whitson, Montavious Woodgett, Mehki Woodgett, Isaiah Woodgett, Xavier Holland, Juanterius Wallace, Jr. and Eric Garrett, Jr.; sisters, Tina Pickens and Lakisha Twymon of Talladega, AL, Cassandra Johnson and Camelia Johnson of Lineville, AL, Tonya Turner, Latangela Jones, Rosalind Woodgett and Carolyn Woodgett of Talladega, AL, and Norene Woodgett of Huntsville, AL; her brother, Ken Merritt of Talladega, AL; nieces, Patrice (Santice) Holley and NaCarlyn Woodgett; nephew, Jacarlyn Woodgett; special cousin, Enga Sturns; bonus daughter, Eryn Wolfe; bonus son, Shamon Roberson; bonus sisters, Mildred Woods, Bonita Fomby, Helen Culpepper, Gwendolyn Lindsey and Gwendolyn Stockdale; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
On Sunday, May 25, 2025, God called her home. Carleva was preceded in death by her mom, Eva Woodgett; brothers, Carl Woodgett, Jr. and Thomas Woodgett; and a precious grandson, Ricky Whitson.
