The journey of Donald “Duck” Stephens began on March 11, 1952, in Talladega, Alabama. He was the fourth of five children born to the late Curtis H. Stephens and Idell Swan Stephens.
At an early age, a spiritual foundation with God was established by his parents and cultivated under the leadership of Peace Missionary Baptist Church. Donald was educated in the schools of Talladega and was a member of the 1971 graduating class of Westside High School. His membership in this class ended an era in Talladega’s history because these students were the last to graduate from the high school that was charged with educating the black community during segregation. Donald was blessed with many artistic talents of which were at times put on display for others to see. He made the decision to professional develop his gifts by attending Jacksonville State University and in 1985 he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art. In addition to his love for painting and sculpting, Donald spent his free time fishing among other things. Professionally, he dedicated many years of service working in the print shop at Brannon’s Office City.
Donald will be greatly missed by his three brothers, Curtis (Elizabeth) Stephens, Jr. of Cleveland, Ohio, Walter (Sandra) Stephens of Lincoln, Alabama and Willie (Sandra) Stephens of Munford, Alabama; two special nephews, Cleo R. (Jackie) Truss of Birmingham, Alabama and Stephen B. Truss of Talladega, Alabama; and a host of other nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
On October 22, 2023, Donald followed the path to eternity that so many have traveled before him. He was preceded on this journey by his parents, Curtis and Idell Stephens; and his sister, Sandra G. Stephens Ross.

MY CONDOLENCES GOES OUT TO THE STEPHENS FAMILY. REST IN PEACE MY BEST FRIEND. WILLIE "BUBBA"WILLIAMS.
My condolences to Donald's family. I have missed my friend for awhile but I know he is resting and now free of pain and sorrows of this world. We always had so much fun reliving our high school days through conservation and pictures. He was Mr. Brandon's. When he was no longer able to work, they had to close the doors...shut down...out of business. I always told him he was the one running that business. He will truly be missed. May he and "his brothers" rest in peace. To the family, please find comfort in knowing we will see him again. May God's Grace and Mercy cover you all. Yvonne Estell-McElderry, a lifetime friend.
