Doris Yvonne Millender Chatman was born on Thursday, March 29th, 1951, in Talladega, Alabama to Roy R. Millender and Alice Marie Truss Millender.
Doris was a member of Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church. A graduate of Westside High School, Doris furthered her education at Talladega College. Her passion for helping others led her to a devoted career as a self-employed caregiver, where she touched many lives with her compassionate service.
Doris was a pillar in her community, known for her warm heart and willingness to lend a helping hand. She enjoyed cooking, mentoring young ladies, and actively participating in family events. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She also had a fondness for crime TV, which she often watched in her leisure.
She is lovingly survived by her daughter, Donica B. (Chris) Nuckles of Atlanta, GA; sons, Antonio D. Daniels and Jairon L. Barclay of Talladega, AL; cherished grandchildren, Kendyl R. Whitaker, Elle M. Nuckles, and Marvin M. Pearson; brothers, James (Juanita) Wilson of Talladega, AL, and Herman (Brenda) Millender of Florence, AL. She also leaves behind in-laws, Helen Millender, Ethel Austin, Fannie Simmons, Annie Pearl Jenkins, Rita Chatman, and Levi (Claudine) Chatman, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other relatives and friends.
Doris Yvonne Chatman, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on Friday, August 14th, 2026, at the age of 75. Doris was preceded in death by her loving spouse, John Louis Chapman; her parents, Roy R. Millender and Alice Marie Truss Millender; her brothers, Roy C. Millender, Brent A. Millender, Lysander Millender, and Myron Millender. Her enduring spirit and unwavering love will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
Doris Yvonne Chatman leaves a legacy of love, kindness, and dedication. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her but her spirit continues to live on through the love she shared and the countless lives she impacted.
