Dorothy Stockdale was born on Friday, May 4, 1951, in Talladega, AL to Calvin and Ruby Abercrombie Stockdale.
Dorothy became a member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church at an early age. She was a graduate of Talladega County Training School.
Known for her talent in the kitchen, Dorothy shared her passion for cooking throughout her career at the Stemley Station Restaurant and the Talladega Country Club.
Dorothy's interests extended beyond the kitchen. She found joy in singing and spent her time working in the yard. Her vibrant spirit and warm smile will be remembered by everyone who knew her.
A devoted mother and grandmother, Dorothy is survived by her loving son, Kalvin Stockdale, and daughter-in-law, Amy, of Robertsdale, AL. She leaves behind her precious grandchildren, Kalvin "KJ" Stockdale, Jr., Makiyah LaCoste, and Alissia LaCoste, who will carry her legacy with love and pride.
Dorothy will be deeply missed by her sisters, Odessa (Burrell) Griggs of Montgomery, AL, Victoria Davis, Doris C. Pointer, and Virginia F. Stockdale, all of Talladega, AL. Her brothers, Joe Stockdale of Talladega, AL, and Hotsol (Connie) Stockdale of Corpus Cove, TX, will forever cherish the memories they shared with their beloved sister. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and countless friends who were touched by her kindness and generosity.
Dorothy Stockdale’s journey on this earth may have come to an end on December 3, 2025, at the age of 74; but her spirit, love, and dedication to her family and friends will live on forever in the hearts of those she touched.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Calvin and Ruby Stockdale, and her stepfather, Curtis Bradford. She is also reunited in eternal peace with her sister, Ruby S. Benjamin, and her brother, Curtis Isom.
