Ms. Gloria Ann Chatman Seay was the third child born to the late Roman Chatman and Annie Maude Bell Chatman on June 26, 1956 in Chicago, Illinois.
With Gloria’s childhood sweetheart, the late Jimmy Burns, she had two beautiful daughters. Additionally, in 1994 Gloria was united in holy matrimony to Felix Seay and to their union one wonderful child was born.
Gloria was a lively woman who loved life and taking charge. She was brought up in Chicago, IL and in her young adulthood decided to venture off to make a life in Detroit, MI, where she obtained her cosmetology license at Virginia Farrell Beauty School. Gloria practiced as a professional beautician for over 30 years, even after retirement maintaining an active cosmetology license.
Gloria was a strong, independent woman and took pride in caring for her children and grandchildren, which earned her the nickname Momma Gil. Gloria spent time living in California and Las Vegas before she finally settled in her beloved ancestral home of Alpine, AL in 2018.
Gloria is preceded in death by her mother and father, as well as her sister Rachel DesHotel. She leaves to mourn in her passing three daughters: Treacey, Jimmisa, and Laura; four grandchildren, Terrance, Trent, Omar and Devyn; and five great grandchildren. She also leaves to mourn her siblings: Dortha, Donald, Robert, Alphonso, and Fearl Sharayne, including a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and very close friends.
