Mr. J. T. Groce, Jr. began life’s journey on Friday, December 10, 1942, to the union of J. T. Groce and Marie Elston Groce in Talladega County, Alabama.
Mr. Groce united with Union Springs Missionary Baptist Church at an early age. J. T. was a member of the 1963 graduating class of Westside High School. Once he completed his education, J. T. relocated and was employed with General Motors in Michigan, Indiana and Georgia and retired as a pipefitter after 33 years of service. He was a laidback person that enjoyed spending time with his family and fishing.
On Tuesday, June 9, 2020, J. T. began his eternal journey at his residence in Douglasville, Georgia. He was preceded in passing by his son, J. T. Groce; his parents, J. T. and Marie Groce; and three siblings, Tim Groce, Peggy Moore and Dorothy Marie Lewis.
He leaves to cherish his memories: two daughters, Carmenia Groce of Albany, New York and Judy Groce of Fort Worth, Texas; one son, Terry Groce of Fort Wayne, Indiana; a special grandson, Demar Brown of Lawrenceville, Georgia; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy Jean Groce of Talladega, Alabama; one uncle, David Braxton of Indianapolis, Indiana; a special companion, Mertleen Dorsey; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
To the Groce Family, I am so sorry to hear about J.T. passing, you have our deepest sympathy. Though he will be missed there is hope that we will see him again in the resurrection. Jesus promised "I am the resurrection and the life. The one who exercises faith in me, even though he dies, will come to life." In the near future we will see our dead loved ones by means of the resurrection, then sickness, pain and death will be forever gone. (John 5:28,29; Revelation 21:3,4)
