Jacqueline Watkins Phillips was born on Saturday, June 15th, 1946, in Alden, AL to Willie Watkins and Edna Mae Burney Williams.
Jacqueline was a devoted member of Rushing Springs Missionary Baptist Church She was a member of the women division of the Birmingham Mass Choir and participated in the Gospel Music Workshop of America for several years. A proud graduate of Praco High School in Jefferson County, AL, Jacqueline was a member of the Class of 1964. She dedicated 35 years of her life working in child care at the Presbyterian Home for Children in Talladega, AL where she impacted countless lives with her nurturing spirit and unwavering commitment before retiring.
Jacqueline found joy in cooking, singing and praise dancing. Her life was a testament to service and love as she actively participated in the Talladega County Rescue Squad, lending her assistance whenever needed.
Jacqueline leaves behind a legacy that will endure for generations. She is survived by her devoted daughters, Angela Swain of Talladega, AL, Bridgette Ward of Birmingham, AL, Tomika (Reginald) Vanhorn of Harvest, AL, Mary Moten of Birmingham, AL, Maple Phillips and Betty Phillips Dorman of Anniston, AL; her sons, Milton (Maxine) Garrett of Woodbine, GA, Stanley (Mary) Garrett, Jerome Garrett and Charles E. (Krystal) Welch of Talladega, AL, Darryl (Jaressa) Garrett of Alpine, AL, Arthur (Sherie) Phillips of Tampa, FL, Donald (Gloria) Phillips of Talladega, AL, and Ira (Pamela) Phillips of Millbrook, AL. Jacqueline's love also extends to her 37 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by her sisters, Carolyn Billingsley of Birmingham, AL and Wilma Watkins of Talladega, AL; her brother, Charles D. Williams of Hammond, IN; her nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends who all held a special place in her heart.
Jacqueline answered the Master’s call on Monday, March 3rd, 2025, at Brookwood Baptist Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ira Phillips; her parents, Willie Watkins and Edna Mae Williams; her cherished sons, Daniel Curry and Debron Phillips; granddaughter, Mary Ann Young and grandsons, Christopher Swain and Alfonzo Young.
Family and friends will unite to celebrate Jacqueline's life, cherishing memories filled with love, laughter, and lessons of perseverance. Her unwavering faith and selfless spirit will forever illuminate the paths of those who knew her. May Jacqueline Phillips rest in eternal peace, and her memory and love forever cherished in our hearts.
