Born on Sunday, March 25, 1973, in the very heart of Talladega, Jason spent his lifetime enriching the lives of those around him through his warmth, kindness, and unwavering dedication to his family.
Jason worshiped at Evening Star Missionary Baptist Church. He attended Talladega High School, where he was known for his genial nature and respect towards everyone he met. He later became a certified welder, a role in which he excelled and took immense pride. His passion for welding was matched only by his love for fishing, a pastime that brought him great joy and tranquility.
Jason's gentle spirit and mild-mannered demeanor left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered. His life, though too brief, was marked by a deep respect for others and an infectious love for life.
He is survived by his loving parents, Odelle and Walter Taylor and Larry and Gree Richardson of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; his devoted children: daughter, Jaylnn Marshay Sims of Mobile, Alabama and son, Linkelby D. Curry of Talladega, Alabama. Jason also leaves behind his cherished sisters: Jessie N. Sims and Jaquandra Sims of Talladega, Alabama, Dawn M. Delaney of New Orleans, Louisiana and Erica W. (Daniel) Garrett of Talladega, Alabama; brothers: Jerald (Kimberly) Sims of Winder, Georgia and Derrick (Patrice) Richardson of Talladega, Alabama. He was a proud grandfather, and his legacy continues through his grandson, LaKerion Curry. Jason's memory will also be carried on by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and extended family.
Jason passed away on Saturday, December 20, 2025. Preceding him in death were his brother, Marcus Richardson; cherished grandparents, John R. and Alice Sims, and Walter and Emma Lue Richardson; beloved aunts, Shirley Kelly, Devetta Richardson, Flora I. Sims, and Virginia G. Sims, and uncles, Benjamin Manuel, Marvin Richardson, and Winfred Richardson.
Jason Sims will be missed dearly. His legacy is one of love, respect, and the simple joys of life.
